While we all can give advice, we tend to favor the town that each of us chose. In my case Alton for very reasonable taxes. As you travel around the lake, there is quite a bit of variation in things like: distance to stores and services; real estate prices and taxes; population density and so on. So it comes down to personal preference. In the end you will have to gain some first hand experience in each of the area towns.
