That makes sense. I built an external battery pack for my CTR-350, but for either unit the battery draw can be kind of hefty and they don't last as long as I would like, so I've kind of given up on battery-powered 3G/Wifi access for the most part.
If I'm at the airport I tend to just plug my USB adapter right in to my MBP and skip the intermediate step of using the router, unless I'm traveling with someone and they want to get online also.
