I have the exact opposite experience you "describe"--Lakes Region cops seem to be the most laid back (at least compared to what I've heard about/seen from MD, VA, MA, RI, CT, NJ cops).

God Bless the Holderness Police--I remember one summer I was speeding down Rt. 3 (unlike when I was "speeding" on the lake last summer) and saw him too late. He was outside his car with a radar gun and looked at me, smiled, and gave the "slow down" sign.
