My first boat was an 8 ft. unpainted plywood pram, purchased at Downing's in Alton Bay. I can still remember the Downing employee, a Mr Ralph Jardine, carrying it down the hill to the dock. Talk about excited, my own boat! I had to prime, sand, and paint it before I was allowed to put it in the water. The color was Pettit Lemonade yellow. Only oar power for the first year, and then the 1954 Evenrude 3 hp showed up. I still have that motor, and it still starts on the second pull!
