Default it's the law

The attitude may very well come from the top, as 'Tis has mentioned in her response, since their website states:

"We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone."

Really friendly and inviting, isn't it?!

Similar signs are on walls on restaurants all over the state, because that's the state law. We (bartenders and servers, and yes, I am a bartender, but in Wolfeboro, so no, I'm not affiliated with The Pine Cone) have the right to refuse to serve anyone for any reason. The statement is there on websites and walls for the same reason the state has the law there - to protect us and set the tone for a refusal to tolerate drunks.

I've never met the bartender in question, but based on beaner's response I think she needs some understanding and encouragement. Knocking her physical appearance and renaming her isn't appropriate no matter the cause.

I have met the owners, I actually waited on them in Wolfeboro last week and they are terrific folks. Looking to them as a cause is off base, as they are delightful.
