buy one

Harbor Freight has one for about $250. I bought one years ago and it splits anything I put into it. 5 ton force, electric/hydraulic, easy to store, and pays for itself very quickly.

.....and mainland shorefront properties. Though the size/placement of the septic system sustaining a camp on such a small island would seem to be an issue. Not to mention the Laconia water intake is...

overly optimistic?

Most of those numbers are driven by the efficiency numbers applied (visible when you expand each device type). Where do those numbers come from and are they accurate? Showing a heat pump at 350%...

The Mitsu split would not use the ductwork. There are interior units that you mount in ceiling, on wall, or in-wall.

"pure" economics?

Agreed....pellets should have come down in price by now. They certainly shot up fast enough when pellet stoves started to get popular. With the number of pellet providers, you'd think there would...

daytime, too

The ISS is so bright, it can also be seen in the daytime when it passes overhead on a clear day. Just most people don't notice it or assume it's a jet. Just check the schedule for an overhead...

C-130

Yep, they flew right over me on Cow and were definitely C-130's. Modern day "aluminum overcast". :)

Being a sawmill requiring flowing water, I'd be willing to bet that is the southern tip of Lake Kanasatka where it empties out to a stream leading to Winnipesaukee, and that is Red Hill in the...

correction

You are correct. I used the wrong term. I meant to say WiFi Calling, a setting in the "Phone" section. It allows you (on most networks) to make calls through WiFi rather than through a crappy cell...

We had weak wireless signal (VZ) at our location on the lake so I had, several years ago, added a cell repeater with an antenna on the roof. It worked OK. We also had Fairpoint DSL internet with a 3...

Thinking out of the box (boat)

There's a perfect solution out there for island owners. If I had an extra $150K I'd be getting one. Forget the mainland dock, boat, trailers, and moving groceries from your car to your boat and get...

Great clip! Interesting bottom topology right around the car. I wonder what caused that "crater" type effect and something living under mud near right rear door causing the small trench? I wonder...
