what is it?
It is a gas refrigerator. Gas mechanism at the bottom wit an ice tray rack at the top. The frame at 2:09 shows the manufacturer's name as "SERVEL" - a very popular brand of gas fridges in its time....

I think strongly that the boat Hans found is one of the double-ended Idlewild boats. Unfortunately, that pre-dates me a lot. I'll have to do some research.
The "Babs" was another Idlewild boat....

The bay is fully skimmed over out to Chase & Farm Islands, but it has been so for only a couple of days. I would not venture out on it yet!
