Rock Bass have red eyes. Crappie have soft skin near their lips, it often rips when caught by a hook.

I've posted before, but I think the best thing to do whenever you catch a rock bass is, don;t throw it back... Keep a bucket and use them for gardens etc... They spawn like crazy, I never throw them...

Most fishermen will be respectful. I do fish docks, and stay away from boats and trampolines. I never fish near people swimming. Also, we skip over areas where people obviously have swimming areas....
