Thumbs down Residency

The test of voter eligibility is residency, not property ownership. If a non-resident wants to vote in any jurisdiction he must become a resident, not simply a taxpayer, of that jurisdiction. And...

Correction

"any combination of the three passes" is not correct.

There is a limit of one $50 guest pass that includes the right to use the launch ramp. The other two are good for upper lot parking only,...

What does the State have to say about this?

One reason NH has not built a public ramp, like at Squam, is that the authorities considered the 17 [about] working ramps to be adequate, even though many more ramps could be supported based on the...

Gilford Island cottages

There are about 240 seasonal homes on 19 unbridged Gilford islands. This would include those previously reported for Diamond Island. Others are Welch, Timber, Mark, Mink, Jolly, Birch, Steamboat,...

Underwater signs

We have curious symbols in the shallow waters [6-8'] off our island property----all done by those we know. I call it underwater graffiti. But, in your example, it may have been down by Captain...

Fees instead of ???

The prices we all pay for "no new taxes" and other such claims are fees, fees, and more fees. Haven't we feepayers figured that out by now?:rolleye2:

Do the math

Special consideration has been suggested for the patrons of one "tax-paying restaurant". The non-public docks are reserved for Gilford's Island Residents. They reside on 19 Gilford islands. There...

Same here on Gilford's outer islands. Horizontal rain for about 5 minutes but rain gauges measured only 0.2". Up to 4' waves over the dock. Many limbs down. I guestimate wind at 50/60 mph. ...

Stop by for a meal at the new Waldo Pepper's

We did, for dinner today. Quality was as ever, excellent. Prices are competitive. And Pepper was her usual delightful self. By 6 pm there were about 50 diners seated. :liplick:

Talking A rumor to be debunked

Lake Winnipesaukee is already a public water supply, so your assumption does not follow. Secondly, why would anyone using the Lake for boating be in favor of prohibiting it? The rumor is just not...

SB2 in Gilford

Voter participation has increased a huge amount in Gilford since we passed SB2 two or three years ago. Sometimes as many as 2,000 votes are cast on an issue, versus a few hundred in the old town...
