Any other Brits out there?
 

Hello Winnipesaukee Forum.

We just moved to Moultonborough from London, U.K. and we have been very pleasantly surprised to discover a few old English amongst all the new English. Wondering if there are any others out there??

Also just wanted to generally say hello, and to say how very delighted we are to be here. It's truly a gem of a location and we feel very lucky. We have a lot to learn about the area!

I hail from an English background (if growing up with the traditions of Yorkshire pudding at Christmas and knowing what black pudding is really made from counts...) but my family has been here for quite sometime.... I also own a corgi, if you should get that homesick you are welcome to visit him and we can have elevenses... :D

Not a Brit here, but grew up in London (8 years), and still addicted (38 years later) to (real) Football. Chelsea for the double!

My paternal and maternal families are from British ancestors. The paternal goes back to one of the Mayflower decadent and I am registered with the mayflower Society. The maternal family bible goes back to the 1500s and are related to British royalty. Heck! I am even related to Abe Lincoln!

We know two other families with young children in Meredith plus an assortment of adults who have settled here.

We also had a good handful of English kids at our theatre camps last summer. I was surprised how many Brits had 2nd homes over here. I thought they all went to Florida!

For a taste of home, be sure to check out Tarbin Gardens in Tilton. It's owned by an Englishwoman and her son and she serves homemade cream teas. We didn't discover it until the end of the season last autumn but they should be opening up again soon and we plan to head over. The only place my husband can find clotted cream around here at a reasonable price!

Mayflower
 

Every once in awhile you see someone who has ancestors that came over on the Mayflower. I think there were 102 people aboard. I actually have never seen anyone offer an alternative.

My ancestors (English/Paternal) came over in the Ship Elisabeth in 1638. Settled in Groveland, Massachusetts Colony.. :) NB

Welcome! You have moved to a little slice of heaven.

BTW...Going to London for the first time this September. If that damn volcano doesn't mess things up.:eek:
