Tree Work
We have several trees that need to be removed. We also have a number of 10-12' saw logs. (White Pine) on the ground from last fall that need to be removed.
Any ideas? Suggested companies? We are in the Gilford area. |

You're right about that BearIslandSouth.......that new shoreline protection act is really something. The other day my grandson threw a rock into the lake next to the beach........ Dam it all.....now I've got to go apply for a permit to get that rock out of there. While I'm there, maybe I'll apply to rake up a few leaves that washed in.

courtney did a great job for us( actually two times)

Thanks for posting those pictures! One thing to keep in mind - especially if you've never had an arborist/tree service quote a price that gives you sticker shock - is that these guys are highly skilled. We heat with wood and I spend a fair amount of time running a saw. But only with both feet firmly planted on the ground. |

To those of you who recommended Courtney Kelly of Arbortech for tree removal...Thank You!!
Courtney just completed cutting a couple trees down for me at the camp and did a fantastic job. Here's a pic of him taken just a few minutes ago doing his thing! Dan |
Does he get reasonably money for his services?
|
Very Reasonable
As far as I am concerned, considering the danger involved, the physically challenging work and the wonderful cleanup job he did after the trees were cut, yes he was very reasonable. My neighbor on the island said he paid the same price I did over 10 years ago from someone else!
Dan |
Does he haul an 8hp woodchipper to the island for grinding up the limbs?
Cutting trees and grinding the limbs is hard hard tough work, especially in hot weather. When you cut through a tree with a chain saw, it sure falls down very fast. You can lose five pounds in sweat while cut'n down a tree, especially when it's close to something valuable like a house......or your head.. |
I agree!

It's a rare thing...
Mr Kelly is IMHO a rarity. He takes great pride in what he does, and it shows.
The cleanup on our job was not simple.. in fact he also cleaned up after a previous job poorly done by someone else. His price is a bargain for what you get. They couldn't print enough money to get me to do what he does. Of all of the "professionals" I have ever brought to my house to get a job done... he is hands down the best I've ever dealt with. While on site, he advised that a big old oak in my yard needed a "haircut", he handled it with ease. The important part was his ability to see a problem before it was a potential damaging problem. Class act all around. |
parker tree service
anyone used them/ I believe they are out of center harbor

Parker Tree Service
Dear Winniview,
Micah Parker, of Parker Tree Service, has done a lot of tree work on our property over the past several years and does an outstanding job. I recommend him without hesitation. |

We just had ArborTech take down a large pine tree and were very happy with both the work and the price. Courtney and his professional crew came in and did a great job including grinding the stump when he was done with the tree. Definitely would have them do any other tree work that we need.

Wednesday is half-price rental day at Rand's Hardware on Main St in Plymouth, which opens at 7:30, and they have a couple large, powerful Stihl chainsaws to go rent out in case you need to down a tree and cannot pay for a pro. Chainsaws and tree downing can be a little hazardous ......like no kidding.......especially if tree fall down fast ... go kaboomie .....and land on your head .....like ouch!
And, furthermore, should you be un-insured and need ambulance transport to the emergency room, your friendly, local fire department, ambulance service could very well bill you $5000 for a 20-minute ambulance transport ...... like ouch! |
Island Trees
We are looking at an island property, which is heavily wooded. I would cut the trees myself as it is raw land and I have a lot of experience downing trees. My question is what to do with the logs? It is mostly large 12"+ diameter evergreen(keep the minimal amount of hardwood). I would think I could get someone who needs it to barge it off the island and take the wood for free or minimal fee. Does anyone have experience with this? I know the cutting rules and regs with the DES as I deal with them regularly in my own profession.
Thanks |
I have Bruce Waterman (776-6127) from Alton doing tree work at my house today. He does a great job at a fair price.
