You're welcome! :) Glad you're enjoying them.
I wanted to get to the dog sled races in Laconia today, but didn't have time. Unfortunately I won't be around tomorrow for the dog sled races either :( (I'll be over in Vermont at a ski jump competition, shooting panos) Kirk |
a power toboggan
Everyone has heard of a Power Wagon, which is a Dodge truck, but today at the Moulton Farm, in east Meredith, a "Power Toboggan" was zipping arund the large, open farm field.
Powered by an Indian v-twin engine and manual transmission that must have started life as a motorcycle engine, the Power Toboggan had backrests for two, constructed of wood-maybe ash, and very much resembled a large wood toboggan, complete with a wind break up-front, and large snowmobile-like traction belt in the rear. US Army Air Corps - Model C Authorized Use Only in official looking lettering, is what it says on the front windbreaking nose of the toboggon. It sounded almost like a Harley Davidson, and seemed to run perfect on the dry, crusty snow as it circled around a 1/2 mile loop. Besides the Power Toboggon, about 15 different Ford Model T cars and trucks, and one Ford Model A car, all equipped with tracks and skis, powered around the big field. |
Thanks for the pictures
I have also enjoy your photos not only of the fishing derby but these of the Model T's. I am from Moose River,Maine (a suburb of Jackman) and my father had one of those when I was a young fellow in the 30's which they used to go into the Central Maine power plant in the winter.
I have a brother (84 Years old) down in Florida and I send your pictures on to him and he is so appreciative. Keep up the good pictures. |
