High Lake Level - Issues?
 

Wondering if anyone has experienced issues with all the rain and the resulting high lake level? I have my boat slipped down at Parker Marine and the docks are partially submerged. Ducks were swimming around the parking lot yesterday! The clearance at the bridge looks really minimal now, not sure I can even make it under it! Similar places come to mind like the bridge in Wolfeboro? Bet thats offering low clearance too?

That sounds like it stinks. I have mine in Parker too. I didn't go up last weekend, but was planning to this weekend. Bummer to think I might be stuck...

Was in Wolfeboro last Sunday and somebody was pulling their boat out on Back Bay. He tried to go under and got stuck with his windshield being the highest point. Watch a few fishing boats just get under and jetskis had to duck to get thru. Noticed a few boats in the Back Bay. Will have to trailer and put in on other side to get on the Lake.
Heard on radio the Lake was up a foot over high level.

I heard of someone who wanted to go through the Wolfeboro bridge and couldn't.

We were in Wolfeboro Sunday and saw a few boats (all lower draft boats and under 20ft or so in length) attempt to go under the bridge and at the very last second, realized that they would not make it and backed away.

There was one brave women who went for it and made it through with a boat load of people on a bow rider, they were all crouched down and all popped up when they made it through. We gave a cheer for them and she was a very proud captain of the boat. I wonder what would have happened if she got stuck?

the lake is a foot over what is normal for August, not a foot over high level. Its at a level more typical for spring after ice out

The big difference is that there are fewer boats making wakes right after ice out!

Has the rain and high water level floated any debri into the lake? Thinking about going out this Sunday as the weather looks like it may be nice. Anything else to watch out for after all this rain we have had? Thanks

I haven't been on Winni but I can tell you there's a lot of crap floating around in Squam! Every stream that went up over its banks brought down branches and logs, and endless small debris and flushed it into the lake. I'd be extra careful cruising around this weekend.

We were out most of last Suturday, from Wolfboro, Meredith and didn't see anything of concern

But given the high water, I'm on the lookout like I would be in the spring

Looking at the water downstream on the Merrimack, I would say be very careful. The water is brown and very murky, and there are tons of branches and even some larger logs floating downriver.

My boat had a 52 inch bridge clearance on 8/13/08.

Oh, boy, I'm claustrophobic just looking at those pictures...you're a brave man, Sunset Bob.

Eat more Lobster rolls, the added weight will make the boat ride lower. :eek:

When this approved it's a movie of my Dad driving under the Backbay bridge in Wolfeboro around 1985. His slip was in back bay. This day had reasonable water level, during one especially high period, he trailered from Backbay to the launch near the docks. Of course if the water was low, it got shallow in there.

Sunset Bob- What kind of boat do you have? I'm heading up today w/some friends, & I'm wondering if I'll get my 24' Campion Bow Rider under that bridge?:eek:

There is some floating debris out there, so keep an eye out. Had a good size 2x6 with screws sticking out wash up on my shoreline yesterday. Also saw some other logs rocking with the waves on another shoreline.

I have a 21 foot Larson cuddy 52 inch bridge clearance.

I was out last Sunday in Alton Bay and hit a 4" by 10 ft branch/log and made it into 3 - 3ft logs. Did go back and pick up the pieces after checking prop and outdrive for damage.

sgold44, its not the length or type, its how high does the boat sit in the water and what degree your windshield if thats your highest point. I have a 20' Chris Craft that sits high in the water and my windshield is not that high. As mentioned above about other boats, I wouldn't have done last week. The lake has risin since then. If your going to go on the big Lake trailer it over, saves trying the bridge, taking it out and then bringing it over.

Since my initial Post the lake seems to have dropped a few inches. I had reported that the docks at Parker were submerged at one point. They are actually above the water now (barely). Took my 23' Searay out last night and braved the bridge.... made it under with no problem. Had about 3" to spare... phew! I have noticed an abundance of greenery in the water down in my docking area. My slip alone looks like a Frog haven! :eek:
