depends in the type of repair.for a hole, cut a piece if dry wall to fit the hole-push a nail through it to keep it from falling into the wall-take fiberglass wallboard tape and tape off the edges-then joint compund over the tape with a wide trowel-don't put it on too thick as you will need a couple of coats-then sand, prime and paint. the home centers sell small squares of drywall so you don't have to buy an entire sheet if you don't need to as well as the tape and joint compound.they are great items to have on hand for any home owner.hope that helps

Dry wall repair

Dry wall repair is the bane of many homeowners home repairs, so I suggest a dry wall tradesman. If it is a small job, you may have trouble getting a dry wall tradesman, but, a good carpenter, although he (or she) may not want to admit to it, can do dry wall repair work. The problem with dry wall is that it is tedious, and stretches out over several days, what with drying time, sanding, more mud, drying time, sanding, more mud, etc., etc., etc.

Ask the clerks at your local home center if they can suggest a local person to do the repair.

If the hole is too large, you will need to provide support behind it, ie., another piece of strapping to keep it from being weak when finished.

Good luck to you.
