If you are talking about how they are mounted...The way I have seen them mounted is can type directional speakers mounted on the top rail facing the wakeboarder. Check it out at this link on the Manitou web site.

http://www.manitouboats.com/main/modules.php?name=Products&op=fSearch&cat_id=&start =-1&request=partnum&boat=30&feature_cat_id=2&tab=3 #

If your talking about who can mount them, not sure but bet most any decent marina would do it for you.

FYI...Glendale Marine will have some pontoon boats in the water this weekend that have wakeboard racks with this type of speaker attached. You might want to take a closer look.

I recommend you don't -- we don't want to listen to your music. :rolleye2:

wake tower speaker installation

Thanks. I am looking for recommended installers. I also am checking with my marina, but if someone has had a good experience with any particular installer please share. As to the last comment, my kids are very conscientous and hopefully will not bother you with their music. We care.

What type of boat/tower is it? Mosnter tower or factory equipped tower?

Depending on the brand, some companies prewire the towers for speakers when the boat is built. If this is the case, it is not complicated. You will need an amp to drive them though. The mounting is easy and the connections at the top is not hard. Any car stereo store could handle it if you have the speakers. It is a bit tricky feeding it through the tower if it is not prewired.

As far as brands, I like the Kicker equipment. Our last Tige had 4 Kicker speakers up top, our new one has 6. Here is a picture of our new one (I tried to negotiate for the model but could not swing it). This was the 2007 factory promo boat for Monster Towers and Kicker. Pretty slick setup. Should arrive from Georgia on Sunday!!!

Why?

What are the benefits of outfitting a tower with speakers? Is it so the boarder/skier can listen to tunes while performing? Or is it so the spotter can provide instructions?
Being an 'old fart' I guess I just don't 'get it' ......

Unfortuanately it's so old farts like us can here the music too.I say the wakeboarder should be wearing a waterproof I-pod.I know I sound old but I don't impose my music on others and I would like the same in return.

A bit of both, some boats can be set up with an intercom/mic for giving instructions over the speakers. Other than that it is for the listening pleasure of the rider.

I thought it was discussed on another thread to band all YELLOW boats from the lake.:)

wadden 04-23-2008 02:26 PM

Not factory installed, not prewired. My son already purchased the speakers in January and I am not sure of the brand.

Wow I am surprised by all the negative replies. As long as you are not bothered why do you care if someone has speakers on his tower? Please be courteous.

"Wow I am surprised by all the negative replies. As long as you are not bothered why do you care if someone has speakers on his tower? Please be courteous."

Don't be surprised...Some people just think the entire lake should be a "Loon sanctuary" and only used for what they like to do.

As long as you are in the wide open water, there is nothing wrong with playing and enjoying your music. Obviously around camps, coves or near the shore, discretion and respect need to be adhered to.

Good luck with your speakers!!

Nice Boat!

Codeman;

That is one beautiful boat! Congratulations!! What does it have for an engine??

Did you sell your Manitou or did you decide to keep it??

Boat

You mean that there was a boat in that picture??? I must have missed that feature.

I would not worry about the speakers, I understand that the kids like Benny Goodman Ochrestra, and Lawrence Welk, and maybe some classy stuff like the BEATLES:emb:

Thanks, we can't wait. My brother just left for Georgia to pick it up. We kept the Manitou as well. This one is my wife's toy. It has the 340HP Marine Power v-drive. We had a 24' one last year, this one being 2' shorter should really rip, I mean putt (for those speed limit nazis)...

Check out the Monster Towers website, particularly the calender section. Interesting research. :D

Please be courteous.

It could be that is what all the negative comments are aimed at. Someone with speakers mounted on a wake tower does not plan on listening to them at a normal hearing mode, are they???:)

Double Ditto. Nothing like relaxing in a quiet cove or even the West Alton sandbar and then not being able to hear yourself think due to the concert hall quality stereo blasting away. Now, if the users are courteous and just blast-away in clear open water...no harm, no foul.

Apologies...

My apologies to wadden. My quip ended up turning a legitimate request for information into an anti-speaker thread, and that's not what we should be about here.

If folks have the information he/she can use, please share it.
