Early Jan 2008
It is looking like the next week or so, starting December 31, will be wintery with two or three snow events and some mid-winter cold to go along with the snow. However, starting around Jan 5 or 6, the weather looks to warm up and give us an early January thaw. :coolsm:
The next few days should give a great surface to the ski hills and snow trails. They all can use a new surface after ten days of wear from the higher than usual traffic we get this time of year. All in all, it is a great start to the winter sports season. The warm up should get us all in the mood :)  for the NE Boat Show that starts January 12. It is a month earlier this year and at the new convention center in Boston. Here is a link http://www.neboatshow.com/ R2B |
Warming up!
The January Thaw that R2B mentioned a few days ago is now underway. After two days with below-zero temps and just one day with a high of only +6, the air over Lake Winni is now rapidly warming into the 20s as forecast - back to normal winter levels. Models still show the warmup continuing. As I write this, WLNH is announcing "Sunday will be 40" with excitement.
With that said... be veeeryyy careful on lake ice if you do try it. It hasn't had a long time to thicken, and some places (like Black Cat Shoals, and probably others) were open water until the winds calmed down last night. |
