Big Big Big Laker
 

A good friend of mine had a charter out on winni, and his client hooked into this fish, might be the biggest laker caught on record on winni. F&G biologist said the fish is somewhere between 25-30yrs old.

He found her, but they did find it in their hearts to release this prize. It seems only right, as to what island and where it was caught, make your own guesses. Or book a charter with him...LOL

I may not know much but I recognize this spot as I travel past it a hundred times a year.

Just north of Ship and Moose , south of Rattlesnake looking almost straight north.

What a great fish. Congrats.

It certainly looks like the eastern tip of Rattlesnake to me. The picture is taken looking directly north. Entrance to Winter Harbor way off in distance.

Nice Laker for sure. I can't believe that's the biggest the lake has to offer. I think the big fish are big for a reason: they are better at avoiding hooks than others. I believe the lake has a lot of fish like that. I used to fish that area quite a bit in the 90's. The deep hole outside of Alton bay. One summer while vertically jigging my partner hooked something very large that he battled for about 30 seconds. Using stout gear and targeting marks on our flasher that were well off the bottom. He was struggling to gain on that fish or whaterver it was.

Great fish! Don't give up your secrets! they already know where it was caught, that's half the battle.
