Olde Bay Diner
We discovered the Olde Bay Diner a couple of summers ago and now my kids and I love it. It is our preferred place for breakfast. Get there early, though, as the place is small (just a few booths and seats at the counter), but the food (for breakfast anyway) is just wonderful.
A little pricey, but definitely worth it. nj2nh |

Newbie, It's in Alton Bay, I'm pretty sure that's what you were asking as it wasn't mentioned here.:D

Took Argie and the youngest Arglet to the Olde Bay Diner on Friday for b'fast. We've lived in Alton for over 8 years now and just got to try the Diner. We don't eat out much but breakfast is our favorite. Since I'd heard good things about the Diner via this forum, I suggested we give it a go.
The place is tiny and was filled with many local-yokles that morning. It wasn't slammed but there was only a couple of booths open and some seats at the counter available. Argie and I got the special of the morning - a sausage/cheese omlet, homefries, and I got the rasin toast, while Argie got wheat toast. The portions were good (too good!) and all was tasty. I really liked the rasin toast. The coffee was very good and my cup never got empty - love that! The Arglet got an order of pancakes but had a little trouble eating because of the texture of them - there was cornmeal in them, I think, which I liked but he did not (he's only 4 years old and has problems w/ certain textures.) We ordered cinnamon toast for him but The Arglet wasn't crazy about that either, but ate some of it. (Again, none of that was due to the food being bad or anything of the sort but more of what our child can or can't tolerate when it comes to textures of foods.) On a side note, Argie and I sampled the cinnamon toast and thought it was probably the best we've ever had. Summary: Good food. Great service. Well worth the stop in! |
Great place, I have been going there since I was a kid. I believe it use to be called Mel & Sally's

LOVED the Olde Bay!
My husband and I visited the Olde Bay Diner with friends this weekend for breakfast. It was a first time visit for all of us, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our experience! We loved the homemade cinnamon toast, delicious both as-is served with other items and as French toast too! Flavored coffee creamer was available, which was great. My friend's over-easy egg was cooked perfectly, as were my husband's scrambled eggs. The home fries were crispy and well-seasoned. The service was wonderful, our waitress was great! Loved that each booth had its own window for fresh morning air off the lake. The restaurant was very clean, had cute lake decor, and felt welcoming. We will certainly return soon! :)

http://i44.tinypic.com/1499wms.gif LucyLou, I just noticed that you are fairly new to posting on the forum and glad you have joined us. Have fun and enjoy the Winni Forum while making many new friends.
I personally love eating breakfast there every Friday and Monday. If you liked the cinnamon toast you should try their raisin cinnamon toast, it is to die for. The waitresses, Donna and Margie are just fantastic and love to talk to each customer when time allows and then they still find some time.:) http://i54.tinypic.com/2e56yqf.gif |
Thanks, RLW!
What a nice warm welcome! I have been reading forum posts for a while, and this was quite worthy of my first post! :). I will have to try the raisin toast also!
