Evergreen Clam Bar & JJ Goodwins on Rt. 28
We drive by Evergreen Clam Bar in Barnstead just about every time we head to the lake. Has anyone here been and if so, how was it?
Have you been to Pops Clam Shell? How does it compare? (Prices seem better at Evergreen.) Has anyone ever eaten at J. J. Goodwins and if so, how was it?? Thanks for posting your menus McDude! (I could have sworn you had a menu posted for Pops. ) |
Hi there,
I have never eaten at Evergreen Clam bar, except for ice cream, which is just mediocre with Hersey brand ice cream, but I am a self admitted ice cream snob:emb: . I do know that there was a for sale sign up for quite a while, but it is gone now. The Evergreen has been owned by the same people who own the Circle Restaurant at Epsom Traffic Circle and the Egg Shell in Loudon on 106. I understand they may have one or 2 others..seems to me there might be one in Laconia under a different name. pmj |
The one in Laconia is in the Gilford Place Plaza beside the Chinese Restaurant across from the Margate, I believe its called Lakeside or some such thing. Been there in the past and liked it but the last two times it had gone downhill. Slow service, bland, flavorless meals, barely warm, inattentive waitstaff, could be cleaner.

Evergreen Clam Bar & JJ Goodwin's
We have been to Evergreen Clam Bar and the food was good; the prices were really good (I'm actually surprised that more people are not there when we go...and also that they stay in business with the prices).
We also have picked up pizza at JJ Goodwin's (only once). It's been a while (a year and a half?), but if I remember correctly, it was pretty good....not really any place I would want to dine at with my family, but great for picking up a pizza on a drive-by. I think both places are worth a try.... |
J. J. Goodwin's is currently FOR SALE

.....and the Evergreen Clam Bar has changed hands. The lease now belongs to David Preston, owner of OSG Paintball. A Memorial Day opening is planned after extensive renovations.
