Parks and Playgrounds
 

Hi all, I'm new to the forums. I'm an Alton mom of a soon to be 2 year old and a 7 year old. I'm looking for different parks and playgrounds to take them to while the weather is nice. I saw a photo in the Baysider this week of a new playground in Wolfeboro, but it didn't say WHERE in Wolfeboro. Could anyone point me in the right direction? :D Thanks!

There is a nice park and playground called Liberty Tree Park, right next to the Alton Central fire station on Rte 140 next to the Merrymeeting river. There is also some playground equipment in the back Alton Central School. There is also some equipment at Jones Field on the Letter S road (runs from rte 11 to rte 140).

Finally, as we get into summer, you may want to call Alton Parks & Recreation Department at 875-0109, or stop by during the day at their office on Rte 11 across from Levey park.

I *think* that that park in Wolfeboro is the Nick, which is on Rte 28 as you head North from Wolfeboro to Ossipee. It's on the left.

I saw that picture, too, and was intriqued because I also have a 2-year-old ... we really don't have any toddler equipment in Alton.

Thanks for the reply, upthesaukee. :) We've been in Alton for 4 years now and love it! We've grown roots for sure. Parks n Rec is a great resource, I have my son signed up for a bunch of their summer activities. He did them last year and had a great time, and you can't beat the price!

The parks here in town are great for my 7 year old, but they aren't really toddler friendly, especially my over-active, dare-devil toddler. ;) She likes to try and climb the big kid equipment. The school playground is the best place here in town for her, but I want to branch out a bit and find some other playgrouds too.

jellybean, you have a 2 year old too? There's a playgroup at the community center on Tuesday and Thrusday mornings. You should drop-in and visit! :)

I have heard much about the playgroup and would love to drop in with my little ones ... but they are in daycare full-time while I'm at work. I am taking a little time off this summer so I can take them to swim lessons at Locke Lake, looking forward to that!
