Hi All:
How's the lake level these days? We had a bit of rain over the weekend and I was just wondering if that helped the water level come up a bit. I have not seen the Mount back at her summer home yet. When will that take place? With the water level being very low, is it possible that she can't get through One Mile Narrows? I think she needs about 10 ft. or she will hit bottom. Correct me if I'm wrong!! I hope everyone will have a safe and happy summer on the lake this year and I hope this rediculous gas pricing will not hurt the tourist population that I know a lot of people depend on. Unfortunatly, I think it will!:( CEP |

Thanks jrc, never thought to check the lake levels of past years.:emb:
I think though if the Mount was to strike something with those props it would mean big $$ to repair! That would not be a good day!! I'm sure they are watching the shallow areas they travel with some concern. I never took the depth reading over at one mile, have you? Bizer chart marks the depths before and after the narrows but not clearly in the narrows itself. Any Who! Takes for the reply and have a good day! CEP |
I don't spend much time in Center Harbor. As you say the Bizer chart is a little crowed in that area. The red ring around FL5 covers most of the channel. The chart is pretty clearly white vs blue in that area so its over six feet deep. My 2003 Duncan chart shows some shallow areas north of FL5.
The water level is about the usual fall level and the busy season is starting. In the fall there are fewer boaters so they tend to say in the middle of the channels. As the lake get crowded, pinch points like that spot get very congested. So boaters will push to the edges of the safe areas. This is when people will start finding some new rocks. Hopefully, this isn't to painful for anyone. I know the Mount's props must be expensive. But I have Bravo 3 drives with stainless props and people tell me they're about $1200 a set. |
Repairs/Maintenance??
Was up at our place in Moultonborough this weekend :D ,
just got home :rolleye1: . Stopped by Centre Harbor on Saturday, while running errands, and the Mount was still there. Took some pics! :) Looks like maybe they're doing some maintenance/repair work on it. Saw a few guys working away on it. |
Looks like May 20th, for the first cruise of 2006. And a Mother's Day brunch on May 14th.

The Mount took her shakedown cruise today and passed with flying colors!

Seeing the Mount
I picked my boat up from winter storage at Thurston's at 10:45 on Monday and as I was coming out of the Weirs channel, I looked out and saw the Mount coming around Governor's Island, entering into Weirs Bay.
After I realize it was not a dream, I positioned my boat so that I could totally enjoy the sight. For me, it was a great way to kick off the 2006 boating season! I admit that it was totally unplanned, but I could not have planned it better! May the 2006 boating season be a rewarding one for all! R2B |
Did you notice if the Mount was going headway speed past Eagle Island? It might still have to go faster than that to maintain control of that big craft.Has anyone noticed if the MP has put out no wake bouys between Eagle and Governors yet?

However this morning I see the old girl is back to her summer home!:D Now I feel the summer feeling is back in my old bones!!!! I'm looking forward for a cruise and a couple of thirst quenchers!!:liplick: That lobster sounds good to!:look: CEP |
Yeah, nothing makes it feel like summer than coming home and seeing her there, except maybe that first horn blow Friday night. I love watching my kids run down the hill to wave to her when she leaves. We even had a little fireworks display when she got home Friday night. Now all we need is her little sisters.

she sailed by our place saturday night looking empty
The Mount sailed past around 6 pm Saturday night heading straight for Wolfeboro Bay. May have been a weeding party or prom event sicne the dock side was crowded with dressed up folks early that evening.
