Plane Crash

I am surprised that no one has commented on a small plane that crashed into the woods behind Patrick's (end of the runway) last night around 5:00pm.

From what I gather, it was taking off and did not gain enough altitude

But that is only speculation on my part as I am back in MA and only heard about it from a passer by

Anyone have the REAL story ?

Heard about it this morning from the crew at Diamondshine. Apparently only very minor injuries and plane could still be seen by Meadowbrook sign and Patricks in the woods...

Thanks -

Great to hear no serious injuries.

I’d be surprised to hear he was taking off when this incident occurred. I had just landed around 3:30pm, and the wind was dead calm. The calm wind runway at Laconia is runway 26, which is taking off and landing to the west, and is what everyone was using at that time. Furthermore, if he had taken off on Runway 8 (to the east), he most likely would have aborted takeoff if he didn’t gain altitude prior to the end of a 5000’+ runway. Finally, the tops of some tree branches are snapped off east of where the plane ended up on the ground. I believe he was landing on 26 (to the west), clipped the trees, and dropped down in the trees prior to the end of the runway. If he had been taking off and clipped those trees, he most likely would have ended up in Patrick’s parking lot, or in the vicinity thereof. But anything is possible, so I don’t know for sure. All I can say is that they’re extremely lucky to have escaped with minor injuries.

Laconia Sun has it

Seaplane Pilot has it right. He was landing on 26 and the sun disoriented him.

Human remains found near where plane crashed this week in Gilford

From WMUR

GILFORD, N.H. —
An investigation is now underway after an airport worker found human remains in Gilford.

The worker made the discovery while working at the site at Laconia Municipal Airport where a plane crashed earlier this week.

Officials with the attorney general's office said foul play is not suspected.

Sun almost down... go around!

I did that once on short final in St Pete.

Good outcome for the crash.

The found human remains remind me of the joke about the two seat plane that crashed in a cemetery.

"So far one hundred crash victims have been found."

Surprised by Make!

Made by Mooney, a very competent aircraft!
