Lost Green Old Town Canoe

Thanks very much!

Found it!

My husband and I went out searching for the canoe this afternoon and found it resting comfortably on a private beach on Timber Island. It's back home now. :)

How?

Glad you found it.
I'm sure we'll all be interested to learn how it got there and if somebody from Welch left it there, how did they get off Timber?

Traveling Canoe

It's a mystery to us how the canoe made it out of the very sheltered cove that is its home. It was not well-secured on the beach, but it would have taken a very unusual series of wind shifts to get it out of its little cove; then to head in the opposite direction to Timber. It wasn't even windy on Sunday night! We don't think anybody took to it, as the paddles, cushions and life-preservers were just as we left them, and the sides are a bit more banged up than before. The moral of the story is to always secure boats well; it's amazing how far they can go on their own. :)

If a light craft isn't completely out of the water or tied to something fixed, then any wave action, however slight, that can make the hull move even slightly will result in the hull slipping lower into the water. Once afloat, it doesn't take much air movement at all to move it a considerable distance. The shape of a shoreline or land around it can affect perceived wind direction down low and very local to the land, as the air flows around everything.

Curious

Was it high and dry on the Timber Is beach, or just bumping at the watre's edge?
