WLNH 98.3 ruined with FRANK FM programming.. where is Pat Kelly?

98.3 is now running Frank FM programming (which is run across many stations in NH)... we lost the unique "lakes region" programming and the song choices are very different. Too bad, I really enjoyed the programming, personalities, local coverage, and playlists. I will definitely be looking for another local station... any recommendations?

Pat Kelly is listed as Saturday 6-10am.

Welcome to syndicated broadcasting!

About 6-7 years ago, WLNH and a dozen+ other radio stations were bought at auction by WBIN Media Company out of Portsmouth. Other than commercials, don't expect a lot of Lakes Region oriented programming.

https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/patg?id=WMEA-FM

WMEA 90.1-FM, Maine Public Radio from Portland and transmitting from North Windham with 24,500 watts is easy to receive in the NH lakes region.

Just wish former Gov Paul LePage could do a radio talk show live from McSeagulls in beautiful Boothbay Harbor .... https:///www.pressherald.com/2019/06...-bar-in-maine/ ... good for some laughs ... ha ha ha.

..... click on blue 'photos' for a nice photo of Paul and wife ..... ditto for 220 comments ..... whoopsie .... getting off topic here

Using that radio locator website, enter your town and state to see a long detailed list of all the FM and AM stations you can receive ... more or less.

No help on the local coverage aspect with my suggestion, but the personalities and playlists tend to be pretty good: 102.9 https://wblm.com/

I Had SiriusXM until the signal started degrading and cutting out the music too frequently...I cancelled my subscription and my wife set me up with an old iPod and put all my music from my music collection on it!
Put it on shuffle play and uninterrupted classic rock, bluegrass and lots of other older stuff that I love!

That is an excellent option also. You are always your best DJ. [emoji4]

I have satellite in the vehicles but also have several Ipods. I go to the library here and in Florida and take out music CD's 6 at a time. It only takes a few minutes to add them to the music library in my laptop and then to the Ipods. Those work in the vehicles and the boats. It's free and I now have over 1,400 songs on my Ipod.

I listen to channel 98 on Sirius satellite radio.

It is a comedy station that features small bits of comedians doing stand up.

There is a Canadian channel, maybe 104, which has some perverted humor.

I recall hearing Kelly's voice for the first time nearly two decades ago.

I thought, what an annoying voice for radio!

Over the years Kelly's voice grew on me.

It seemed like he was always on.

He was very positive.

I miss him now that he's gone from the morning show.

104.9 The Hawk has the Greg and The Morning Buzz show.

It has several personalities and is quite funny!

It ends at 10am M-F.

I don't know what time it starts due to my need for beauty sleep. :D

Still love radio.....sports talk XM music, news, comedy. Miss the local stuff from WEMJ. Used to enjoy Imus and some of the morning shows but times change.

The old WLNH

I remember one of their on-air personalities Conrad Caine with his Ted Baxter on steroids radio voice...”wet and wild, its the aqua boggan”. Every time the ad came on I tried to do my best impersonation which annoyed my wife just a little. He did have a unique voice.

I miss the local stations too. Probably they can't make enough money to stay small.

Radio and XM/Sirius have become too spotty in my driving patterns.

For $9.99, Spotify Premium now comes with Hulu. From Lowell to Moultonborough, I get no interruptions using Verizon. There are some weak spots, e.g. Canterbury, my camp (see recent service issue posts), but unless I skip tracks, Spotify's buffering keeps ahead of it.

The catalog is awesome--I've yet to not find a song I like, and it has multiple versions of many--and the sound quality, as someone who spent a decade slinging high-fi for Tweeter (remember them?), is awesome.

I took my old iPhone and put 10,000 songs from my music collection on it. Leave it in the car console attached to the USB port. Only problem is I don’t hear any new stuff and my “favorite “ artists are all getting old and dying.

iheart.com...

Listening to Power Talk 1460 AM from Monterey, CA right now. Getting ready for The Armstrong & Getty Show (6:00 am PST) for all my local San Fran crap. Then I'll switch to New Hampshire's WGIR AM610...Mostly news.

While driving cross-country, it was my best company. Although we did have a few spats I prefer not to discuss... Radios don't listen well!

I listen to way more "radio" than I watch TV. Radio, for me, creates much more vibrant visuals. Let's my imagination "fill-in-the-blanks".

iHeart Radio

I use iHeart Radio on my iPhone for most long drives, Bluetooth connected to my car radio. I can listen to the same local station all the way, uninterrupted, from central MA to the Lake. Free. Many stations from all around the country are available (check for your favorite), along with podcasts of my favorite talk show personalities (which I can pre-download to the phone to avoid any streaming data cost). I tried Sirius and would lose it all the time on parts of I93.

Sirius XM for me either let it run out and wait for the "comeback special" to be mailed it always is, either that or when your subscription is running out call to quit and they'll throw you offers to stay. I always pay right around 5-6 a month I'd drop it for more than that. I think their normal everyday price is around 18.00 a month now for the people that can't be bothered to call them. I feel like I'm getting screwed than spending the actual money when getting it cheaper is so easy. :D
