Temporary Boating License

OK...we've all seen rental boaters driving on the wrong side of markers, blasting through no wake zones and passing boats at full throttle within 20' or 30' apart.
My question is....what is the process for getting a temporary boating license ?
Does it have to come from a licensed boat rental or can anyone get one.
I'm asking because I's like to have responsible guests be able to drive my jet skis's under our supervision. What is the process?

I believe Lakes Region Jet Ski Rental will let you take the test for $20. If you pass and rent a jet ski from them they will give you a $20 credit towards the rental. I think they would allow someone to take the test for use elsewhere. Many people that stop there to rent jet skis will sit on a bench and study the NH Handbook for 1/2 hour and then sit down at a computer and take the test.

From the link provided by upthesaukee: "The 14-Day Temporary Certificate is only a short-term solution for your boating certification and it can only be used once."

It is not clear what "once" is.
Does that mean once during one 14 day period or multiple reuses during that 14 days?
Does "once" mean you cannot return next year and take the 14 day test again?

But, if you want to see the down side to the Temporary Certificate look around the Weirs Beach area on July 4th. I wonder, can you take the test in Spanish?

My experience

About ten years ago, after a long (too long) absence from the lake and boating, I rented at Irwin, and obtained the temporary license. I believe all of the rental shops on the lake provide the opportunity to take the test. It was comprehensive enough that one would have to know the basic rules, IMO.
You can use the license more than once during the period in which it's issued for. Beyond that period you'd have to take the test again.
I see many boaters (especially during busy boating days) ignoring the rules whether by choice or ignorance. Not all of them are renters.
