outcome of Garmin LakeVu chip threads
I was finally able to get the chip I needed for my Garmin 740S chartplotter. The details on these chips are amazing. It even shows the unique configurations of all the docks along the shoreline. Plus, of course, all the 1' contour lines to show you the depths of the entire lake.
Anyway, loooong story short, I now have a brand new, never opened 2017 Garmin LakeVu HD chip that I am willing to sell for less than any of the many places and websites I have visited. The price is $120 if anyone is interested. |

I have the same chip. Detail is impressive. LOVED the auto-routing when I was on Champlain, Champlain Canal and Hudson River for a couple of weeks earlier this month. As easy as manual routing is on a Garmin, it was really nice to just touch a spot on the chart and have the thing route me there with no fuss. |
Just to clarify, the HD chip does NOT have the auto-routing feature. However, you can manually create your own route to bring you safely from one waypoint to another.
The beauty of these chips is that they have many features that make navigating a heckuva lot less stressful on the lake than relying solely on the paper charts. |
Correct, the HD does not have auto-route, the HD Ultra does.
While it is not an auto pilot (unless you have all the big $ servos) the Ultra will calculate and map a plot for you. I do that plot every big trip, even if I know where I am going so that the First Mate (the cuter one on the boat) can follow the purple line home in the event I get hit in the head with a loon. |
The chip is sold.

Do you mind sharing where you found one of the older versions (14,15 or 2016)? I am in need of one myself for a customer here at work.
