I bought the lake!

So this past Saturday I was listening to the news . . .

They mentioned the Powerball drawing was won by one person from the State of NH.

Hmm.... I thought, yes I bought some tickets for myself and decided to buy them for a few of my friends on the dock too, maybe Karma would find me! At this point I reached into my wallet to check the numbers on my ticket.

Then they said the winning ticket was sold in Hannaford's! :D

Yes... wow... did I? Yes I did buy my tickets at Hannaford's!! :)

So what would I do with all this money.. first, buy the lake, not the property around the lake, but the lake itself! This would be unique!

So my friends... please enjoy and use the lake responsibly, you're all guests of a NH resident, please act like you're visiting a good friend in their home and you'll be fine!

One minor point, the news did state that the winning ticket was sold in a different Hannaford's than the one I was visiting when I purchased my tickets, so I wasn't able to buy the whole lake, I could only afford a small slice of the lake, just barely large enough to hold my boat. So I only get to use a small 40 ft space on the lake, but this is a small detail, after all, NH residents do co-own the lake (so to speak). I'll continue to dream . . .

I bought the lake

Rich, you are not alone, I had the same experience when listening to the news, that was until I grabbed the tickets and quickly realized that in fact, I lost again.!! My heart goes out to you and the multitude. Maybe next time!!

It's the closest I have ever come to a feeling of 'what did I just hear'?!?!?

One winning ticket sold! Check! Wow, I won't have to share it with anyone.
Winning ticket sold in NH! Check! Oh really, it could be me!
Winning ticket sold at Hannaford's! Check and excitement building, reaching for my tickets!
Winning ticket sold in Hannaford's in Raymond. What, NO, WAIT that's WRONG!!!

LOL

When I lived in CT I got five of the six lotto numbers.

I watched the drawing on tv and fortunately the fourth number was not mine. I likely would have died if I had to watch the first five go my way followed by a dud.

But five out of six is good right? It pays about $1100 which went a long way back then. I couldn't wait until Monday to go get my fist full of cash!

Well...

It turns out that many, many people had five numbers so my prize was $700.

To add insult to injury, I opted to not have any tax withheld which prompted a subsequent nastygram from the IRS when I forgot to claim the income on my return.

Six out of six would have been more fun.

Winning something still beats a sharp stick in the eye...

You all just dodged a bullet. If I won I'd have to buy everyone in my (& wife's) family a house on the lake. There would be a whole lot more jackasses all at once.
