Our neighbor, at her place on East Bear Island (location of the EBI mail dock), appears briefly in this video handling the mail bag on the dock. When I first came to Bear Island in 1957, the old Uncle Sam was delivering mail twice daily. The next vessel to deliver the mail was a PT boat named the Uncle Sam I I. The Sophie C replaced her. Our first Scottish terrier, upon hearing the horn signal from the mailboat, would race down to the mail dock for her doggie bone treat from the mailboat crew. 🐻
