Ice-Out Contest
 

The Meredith Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an ice-out contest. I think The deadline to enter is March 15th. The chamber said some of the Mt. Washington travel ports are iced in. I wonder if we will have any ice by March 15th?

Longer term forecasts look to be getting colder from Feb 5th or 6th onward. The ice will come, but this is not a good ice year on the lake.

Ice-out guesses
 

Here's a graphic of ice-out guesses, showing how many people guessed each day. It will be interesting to see how close the wisdom of crowds comes to the actual date. Interestingly, as of a few days ago, April 11'th was the winning date with 16 guesses, but after the contest closed, the most guessed date is March 22, with 25 guesses. Lots of late entries came in with earlier guesses.
