Rain Dancing
I did several rain dances last summer and there was Hurricane Charlie near my house in Florida. This winter I did some more and caused major ankle surgery which grounded me in my house watching the NH rain and waves. Now you know the whole problem. Of course, the reason for the rain dance could be the pain pills I’m on. NO MORE DANCING.

If, by chance, the drop in water tempature continues and the lake gets iced in again, would they declare two winners of the Ice-Out Contest?
Only kidding! I was up the last two days. Very cold with a wind chill of about 35 degrees standing still at the Weirs. Watched the Mount work hard for ten minutes to get off the dock for the morning run on Wednesday. They parked it yesterday afternoon and today. It may have been planned, but I think they cancelled. Best wishes to the few souls who are water skiing and tubing this weekend! I will be watching. Better days are ahead. Global warming to the rescue! Hope I am around to enjoy it. |
Sunshine!
Quick, before it's too late, go outside and look up. There has been a sun sighting in northeastern MA! Maybe it will warm the lake before we get up there for the weekend.
|
This morning in MA the sun came out! ok it was for about a minute but it was out.

Stop your whining you!
"Oh stop your whining you!" for Mee-n_Mac
At least some of you are at the Lake! Enjoy the relaxation, sleep late, have a hot coffee or a cold beer. It could be worse you might have had to work... Ya its cool now but wait I think summer will be the 3rd week of July from Tuesday thru Friday. "ENJOY THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND" |
Going up fast
I put my boat in the water on Memorial Day weekend and the temperature gauge on my boat read 53.5°, which is pretty much what the water temp link said on Winni.com. Now Winni.com says we are still around 59° but this weekend my boat read 69°. I'm thinking my gauge is correct because the kids were in the water for hours without turning blue. If that is so that is quite a jump in just one week.
|
The thermometer showed 55 degrees at my dock last Sunday and was 64 degrees yesterday (Sunday). Nine degrees in a week. Not bad! At this rate it shold be 73 by next week!! I wish. :D

Water Temp Average this weekend
In case you are interested, the water Temp as measured at 20" below the surface in the middle of Wolfeboro Bay, and again off of Rattlesnake Island was 66.5 degrees on Sunday afternoon. The lake temp is now about normal for this time of year. Based on current forcasts, it could easily be near the 70 degree mark by the end of next weekend.
Soon we can all Jumpundefinedundefined  IN! |
Not too bad, I jumped in Saturday afternoon and Sunday around noon, while the water had a big chill to it, it was certainly refreshing for this long awaited summer sun we received this past weekend. The good news is that between Saturday and Sunday, the water temp rose 4 degrees...Just a few more 90 degree days and we'll be set.

Hot and Hotter
It's been 90 to 95 degrees here in northern NJ for the last few days. Too hot for kids to be in school. They should just let them out NOW!!! If it is the same up there, then that water must be warming up fast.
Two weeks and counting, Jersey Girl |
Only 62° on the web
Any idea why it still reads just 62° on this site? Where do they take their readings? It has to be warmer than that near the surface on most parts of the lake by now.

Water has hit 80!
Out in Moultonboro bay this afternoon, the thermometer on my depth-finder read 80 degrees! We went swimming and indeed, the water feels great - as long as you don't find the thermocline about 8 feet down.
