Lakeside Famous Roast Beef
Lakeside Famous Roast Beef on Union Ave is expanding and opening up a second location at the Old Waldo Peppers. Lakeside 2, the sign is already up! Roast beef subs are delicious as well as other things we have tried on their menu. Looking forward to them being that much closer to us in Meredith.

Lakeside Famous Roast Beef
If the new owners of the Weirs the Beef location sell the same roast beef as the great Tommy Mac did, then thats the place you go for roast beef sandwiches. Unbelievable.

This is great news! We keep our boat at Thurston's and enjoyed the convenience (and great food!) of Waldo Peppers. Really looking forward to finally having a good local business going in there!

Try the steak tips...:liplick:

Easy walking distance from the Laconia public docks. |
Looking forward to giving this a try. I love Jon's roast beef but nothing wrong in trying to find something better!

Information
Hi all,
I ran into Dave today at BJs and he told me that they are planning to have the new location open by Memorial day. They are going to make deliveries to the local marinas and plan to have the "Waldo Pepper" location open 6 months per year (summer season). Jetskier:cool: |

If Weirs the Beef will not be open this year, at least Lakeside 2 will be within walking distance from the Weirs docks for lunch! :) |
Weirs the Beef was sold last year. It has a new name but will still be selling the beef!

Lakeside Famous Roast Beef
Haha! The only reason I didn't include it in my last post is because I can't remember! [emoji16] It's something like Ladder House I believe. Sorry I can't help. But it's located in the same location as before! Across from the Crazy Gringo etc..

Thanks for the info Bumble! I'll have to see if I can find anything on the new business tomorrow. :)

Weirs the Beef has been renamed to Jacob's Ladder... The new owners purchased the equipment and a new lease was negotiated with the owner of the building. Shortly after selling the original owner passed away. His family still owns the name 'Weirs The Beef"

Thanks for the info Woodsy. I checked and found the full name, Jacob's Ladder Roast Beef & Tavern LLC, registered back in August 2014. I guess we'll wait and see how the food and service is with the new owners!

Very Close!
Lakeside 2 is very close to opening.
Right now it looks like it will open Wednesday of this week but certainly by the weekend. The last couple of inspections and minor repairs are happening now. They have an extensive menu and I will post it when it is available in the right format. After looking at their menu boards I would say that if you can't find something there that you like, then you aren't really hungry! Dave has done a great job at the 405 and Lakeside so one would assume that this will be just as good. |
Lakeside 2 is now open and we had the chance to give them a try today for lunch. While I've not been to the original location it looks like it may be the same menu, with a great variety. I had a sausage sub, my wife and daughter split a steak & cheese sub, plus we had waffle fries. We all really enjoyed the food - very tasty, and the service was pleasant and fast. We will definitely be going back!

Jon's Roast Beef
For my money, Jon's Roast Beef serves the best roast beef sandwich in the Lakes Region.

If you liked the food and service enough to give a nice tip, why not go back again? |
Weirs The Beef is now Jacob's Ladder...
Tommy Mac and his wife drove to Florida in the fall of 2014 and he dropped dead from a heart attack two days after arrival.

Tips
No Joke , They said the business keeps the Tips
|
Tip Credit
This tip thing was troubling me so searched the web and found an article on how employers pay employees and tipping. This restaurant may be using the tip credit and the employee was not made aware. Sorry to make you click... I don't think cut and paste from another site is legal.
If the employee is paid less than minimum wage the employer can use the tips to bring the employee up to minimum wage. The minimum wage law is mandatory even for waiters. http://www.nolo.com/legal-encycloped...employees.html |
^ So the restaurant is using the "extra" tips to make up for what the associates aren't paid?!

Any Restaurant owners out there?
From my understanding, the state allows certain businesses to pay less than minimum wage if the minimum wage will be achieved through tips. I believe the restaurant has a choice on how to collect tips to manage this process. It appears this place has a jar for tips. That would be used for the "tip credit" talked about in the article to which I posted a link. This tip credit allows the restaurant to manage the monies paid to employees to ensure minimum wage to all.
I believe it is illegal for the restaurant to "keep" the tip money. Restaurant owners can chime in here as I am getting out of my expertise! IG |
Restaurants may pay tipped employees below minimum wage as long as the tips earned make up the difference to meet minimum wage. Even if the establishment is paying the employees minimum wage or higher, if the employee is claiming any of the tips the employer has no rights to touch the tips.
If the tips are unclaimed by the employees, I'm assuming the employer probably isn't claiming the tips as income either. So everything about it is just messed up & kinda unethical. Those employees are busting their butts to make your business money. If their hard work is noticeable & a customer wants to tips them, it should go to them. Simple as that. Now lets just hope the poor kid who said something doesn't lose their job, that would be even more messed up. |
RSA 279 Minimum Wage Law
New Hampshire Minimum Wage Law requires that every employer keep a true and accurate record of all hours worked daily by each employee except for employees who are exempt under 29 U.S.C. section 213(a) of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Unless otherwise provided by statute, no person, firm or corporation shall employ any employee at an hourly rate lower than that set forth in the federal minimum wage law, which is $7.25. These limitations shall not apply to employees engaged in household labor, domestic labor, farm labor, outside sales representatives, summer camps for minors, newspaper carriers, non-professional ski patrol and golf caddies. A tipped employee of a restaurant, hotel, motel, inn or cabin who customarily and regularly receives more than $30 a month in tips directly from the customer will receive a base rate from the employer of not less than 45 percent of the applicable minimum wage. Except for employees of employers who are covered by the Fair Labors Standards Act, and seasonal employees of employers operating less than six months, employees shall be paid at the rate of time and one half for all time worked in excess of 40 hours in any week. |

Great guy! Missed even more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I think this is here-say
there are so many people working in their two locations, it seems difficult for me to believe that they are getting paid poorly, especially when NH has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country right now. I think a question should be posed to the owners before this "rumor" could possibly ruin a great lakes region business that is thriving because of hard work they have two locations within a couple miles of each other |

Does anyone have a valid email address for Dave that they can share? I have some comments for him that should remain private for now. Thanks CT |
Not true
I spoke to Dave shortly after the post claiming the the employees do not get the tips.
Dave said that the employees split the tips, he does not take anything. He is glad they are getting tips and wants them to do well. The restaurant is doing well and continuing to grow. I have eaten there several times and had great meals. The lobster rolls are excellent! |

Your comment is highly inflammatory and lacking any real detail. I'm not claiming your statement is *untrue*, but it is certainly *unbelievable* without some data to back it up. |
Inflammatory or not, if you chef throws bad food away and you take it out of the barrel and serve it to customers, you are gonna make people sick. I know that happened for a fact. The chef quit over that situation. I refuse to name any names but more than one person witnessed this happen.
|
I REALLY didn't want to post my last comments, but I think it is important that people know. There have been incidents, and it's not right to knowingly, make people ill.
