Weirs Beach - Winnipesaukee Marketplace - The Winnipesaukee Marketplace dates back to the 1880's when it used to be the Lakeside House. It is said to be haunted! Employee's and tourists who have stayed in there as well as locals have said they have felt cold spots, intense energy fields, it feels as though you're not alone. On a good night especially on a full moon you can see a hanged man in the middle window on the top floor. Assumed suicide or was it? Also there is a woman who is the former owner of the place she only appears and talks to certain people. I have seen both woman and man and the man is very distinguished in features I only have seen his face briefly. Dark cold eyes as if mad at the world. http://www.winnipesaukee.com/photopo...esidelunch.jpg Ye Olde WALDO PEPPERS Ye Olde Waldo Peppers is perhaps the oldest and most venerable of the Weirs Beach Dining establishments. Founded back in the time of the early settlers it was quite popular with the native American indians. http://www.winnipesaukee.com/photopo...tanvillage.jpg It was originally housed in a teepee and all cooking was done over an open fire. Pepper's great, great, great, great-grandmother, Paprika, ( :D ) would go down to the fish weirs early each morning to spear shad for delicious hot buttered shad rolls and to trap land-locked Winnipesaukee lobsters. (Now extinct :D ) Weirs scholars and archeologists have recently unearthed newly found documents which seem to indicate that Waldo's did not always have an aeronautical theme but for many years apparently had a railroad theme. Weirs scholars are still puzzled over these newly found manuscripts and continue to investigate their possible meaning. To view one such manuscript CLICK HERE. :D (ah....sometimes I crack myself up!)
