Anyone else missing the barn swallows?
They usually show up on Winni between April 11 -20 according to the NH Audubon, but I have seen none on the north west end of the lake. This year I got my swallow house out early enough to try to coax some in. Usually by now there are swarms of them diving on the black flies. Is anyone else seeing them on the lake?

A few in Laconia
Saw a few playing in the air over our landing on Paugus Bay this past Saturday and Sunday.

Good to hear that they are still somewhere on the lake. I wonder why the numbers are down, at least in our area?

Coincidentally, a co-worker just released this video he made:

Swallows
I don't see barn swallows here generally, but lots of tree swallows. They returned in mid April, making their presence known the moment they flew in - very busy and chatty little characters. I always have a pair nesting in my bluebird house, where several prospective renters vie for the privilege of taking up residence every year. Once a pair wins the battle and moves in, they are fierce protectors and love to dive bomb anyone who comes near - man or beast.
