Have fun and enjoy the Winni Forum while making many new friends. It is a nice place to dine, but I haven't been in since they had the renovations done the past few months.:)

Brenda and I went to Shibley's for lunch today. We got the last table. The Rick's Wrap was good as usual. When we got there there were 3 planes out front. I took some pictures when we left and there was only one still there.

Sunset Bob 02-03-2013 06:03 PM

Today it was a great time with Sunset Bob and RGILFERT and our better halfs. But we missed RG who could not make it. Loved watching the planes land and take off form our table.

I had lunch around 1 PM after skiing Sunday. I must have missed everyone.

There were two women at the bar that reminds me of 'Two Broke Girls'. They were funny and very flirtatious. I enjoy their company. :D

Sunset Bob 02-04-2013 12:04 PM

We were there from 12:00 to 2:00 sitting in the middle of the dinning room

bclaker 02-04-2013 01:56 PM

We were there from about 12:30 to 2:00. I am the guy with the cane. We were sitrting at a table in the Northwest corner, in thne second row of tables away from the windows.

BroadHopper 02-04-2013 02:23 PM

I was there.

I was the guy sitting next to one of the Pub tables in the Pub. The one with the ski outfit and 'helmet' hair.

We used to ski off the bandstand every weekend. Several of the guys went barefoot. It would have been about 1970 to 1975. The boats were the flatbottoms with big V8's with the straight chrome pipes over the transom. A foot gas pedal and no reverse, just an in and out (of gear) box. Tough ride on a rough day but boy were they fast! Somewhere I have a picture of 5 of those boats pulled up on the sand at the Alton town beach. (before they put in the retaining wall)

Too bad we didn't still have some kind of boat parade on the lake. Maybe we should start one? The Winni.com boat parade??

mcdude 02-07-2013 11:52 AM

....no one would ever be able to agree on the speed at which the parade should proceed.

The best boat parade I ever remember was organized by THE EAGLE, right after 9/11. If I recall correctly, it started in Braun Bay and went up toward Center Harbor. There were dozens of boats, all going at plane speeds. It was a fantastic sight and was fun to be part of.

NHBUOY 02-11-2013 10:46 AM

Hey TBB, I remember you guys. Jimmy C? & his friends from the NorthShore.?

And MrCC can give first hand knowledge regarding the Torchlight Shows.:D

Good thread.! Kool strolling down memory lane in my neighborhood.

Boat parades

Silver Lake in Lochmere has a fantastic July 4 parade around the lake. It also remind me of the parades I have seen on Big Island Pond in the Derry area when Alan Shepard the astronaut will make an appearance.

I heard Great Bay in Portsmouth has a parade as well as Northwood Lake in Northwood.

Why can't we get one together on the Big Lake?

tis 02-12-2013 07:31 PM

I think that would be fun to have a parade. I think the 4th of July might not be such a good day though, since there is so much other boat traffic and also, so many people have so many things planned. But we could celebrate some other way. How about a We love Winni parade?

bclaker 03-30-2013 06:51 PM

My wife and I went to Shibley's on the Pier today for lunch, again. Not very busy. Only 3 other parties. I suspect they will be packed tomorrow. While we were watching, a snowmobile came steaming down the ramp and skimmed over the 8 to 10 feet of water at the bottom of the ramp onto the snow covered ice. There were 2 other snowmobiles out on the ice. Plenty of open water around the Mount Washington Dock and the swimming dock for the April Fools Day fishermen.
