Piano Moving
I am in the process of selling the pool table and replacing it with a piano. Does any body know a piano mover and are there any specific questions I should ask of one?
Thanks |
You're aware that pianos (even good ones) are basically free these days?
http://pianoadoption.com/free_pianos_NH.htm There are a few piano movers in the Nashua area, but most people start by finding a piano, and then working backwards from that location. |

Piano Mover
I just moved and used RIchard the Mover out of Derry, NH. He moved my baby grand piano. He has been doing moves and piano moves for a very long time. Not sure of your to/from but he does travel and he is very good.

I had a really bad experience with a piano moving company that broke the front legs off, knocked big chunks of veneer off, and even at one point stepped on the keys of the upright player piano.
The two large guys stopped at one point, trying to explain the situation, and said, "Look, I don't know how to say this, but it's different getting it up the stairs than going down.... it's an angle thing, you know?" I had the owner of the company come out and assess things, and had him bring a furniture refinisher. Since the plan was to rebuild/refinish the piano, an hour of instruction from a professional refinisher made me much less upset.. All said, I learned a couple things.... the first was do things myself whenever possible, and the second was if they seem incompetent -- call them off right away before they make things worse. [the whole point of hiring the company was to make sure I didn't damage any of my friends' backs, nor my own...] This was a piano-specific moving outfit in the Nashua area in 1999. Googling them, they seem to be out of business... not surprised about that. Best of luck. Andrew |
Know any music teachers in your town? Or do you feel comfortable calling a school and leaving a voice mail for one?
Music teachers will know one. Call for a referral - I'd wager they know someone. |

If you find a wide variation in cost, could you please post that here? I am seriously thinking about moving our antique upright from southern NH to Moultonborough.
Like another poster said, if one goes on CraigsList there are pianos to be had for a song. (Apologies. ;) I think that's because of the cost of moving one. |
