The Fair Is Coming, The Fair Is Coming

In Sandwich this weekend...Woo-Hoo! :D

Slickcraft 10-03-2011 06:25 AM

Sounds like good weather, Sandwich has a nice fair in a nice town.

And the Fryeburg Fair all week, lots of tractors to look at.

Favorite event?

My personal fav. is the oxen skill competition. They get those critters to go places where I couldn't put a shopping cart!

What's yours?

Misty Blue.

I like sheep sheering and sheep herding. Also oxen pull.

We recently started a herd of Dexters at my parent's farm and my daughter and I have talked about her doing this with our heffer and the brother. They are the same age, color and size. These were great experiences for me as a kid (showing our horses), but the oxen thing would have been more my cup of tea. Should be fun for both of us, they will already respond for her, more so than for anyone else.

Watching my grand children's eyes open like basketballs when they see things that takes their breath away.:)

I love it! It's always like a mini high-school reunion. We haven't been able to make the fair in years, but in my mind it is the highlight of Fall in NH. Oh, and I loooove funnel cake!

Greene's Basin Girl 10-03-2011 08:18 PM

I have been going to the Sandwich Fair my entire life, but the Fryeburg Fair is still my favorite. I plan on going to both this year.

Argie's Wife 10-03-2011 09:11 PM

Fair fries with malt cider vinegar are the best!

I like seeing all the quilts, canning, art, and other displays. I secretly like tractor pulls, too. :)

(Must be the Laconia-redneck side of me.) :D

The Arglets are in it for the rides and the games, of course!

Thanks for the Reminder!

I arrive this Thursday and am bringing a friend who's visit is the first time to NE. The fair will be a great experience for her....nothing like the LA County Fair where kids come to learn that milk and eggs do not come from the local market!

dpg 10-04-2011 06:01 AM

My favorite is the food, any food...:D Oh and like the animals too. Got to try at least a Bloomin Onion, Sausage and Fries while I'm there. Going to be an awesome weekend of weather. Weather man this morning said a dry spell is coming. ;)

On the fair home page they list helicopter rides...anyone know anything about this? Price, duration of flight, times, location etc....

The helicopter rides are $30.00 PP. They say 4-5 minutes but we were up there for almost 10. It was a great experience with the wife and kids for $120.00 and not sure where else we could of done a helicopter rider for that price.
