Gas Prices

Can folks start posting what they are paying for fuel around the lake?

ironhorsetim 05-09-2011 05:21 AM

here and there

Let me just throw this in here to compare....$3.89 on the gulf SW Florida :D

SIKSUKR 05-09-2011 09:10 AM

I assume we are talking ON the lake?

Channel Marine was $4.25 yesterday.

$4.56 posted at Minge Cove:confused:

I'm sure it's less at West Alton Marina, so I'll drive there

NoRegrets 05-09-2011 12:06 PM

Irwin's was 4.39.

hazelnut 05-09-2011 01:10 PM

Keep your eyes on Channel Marine. IMO consistently the lowest price for what you get mid-grade. Channel has the Valvetech fuel and does not charge a premium for it.

Wolfeboro_Baja 05-09-2011 02:57 PM

Interesting. On the other gas price thread, Fuel Prices on the water, Channel was $4.25 back on 4/23. I'm kind of surprised they haven't gone up between then and now.

On a side note, West Alton Marina was $3.99 back on 4/25.

Slickcraft 05-09-2011 03:13 PM

Fay's today was $4.14 for mid grade.

Why is Minge always priced high? You can always shoot over to WAM to get gas so it's not like they don't have competition.

JMR 05-09-2011 04:57 PM

WAM Gas

Filled up at WAM two weekends ago for $3.99/gallon. They expect it to rise with next delivery. Brace yourselves for the summer. Although a talking head said on the news this morning that they are expecting proces to fall soon. Drop in demand due to high prices. Funny how that supply and demand thing works.

Rattlesnake Guy 05-09-2011 05:31 PM

Minge has the additive in as well.

Oil dropped $15 per barrel last week, hopefully we will see that on the lake one of these days.

I pull my boat out of the water and drive it to the gas station on the trailer! Pisses some people off but its an easy way to get around the high gas prices.

Sheps was $4.49

Wiers Beach $4.37

Why is West Alton Marina up to 50 cents less than everyone else?

NoRegrets 05-20-2011 02:32 PM

Maybe he has just purchased his fuel. The wholesale cost has dropped from 3.45 to 2.92 per gallon in the past two weeks. I bet the marina's that topped off at the end of March paid 3.45 plus tax. If they were to buy today it would be 50 cents less.

Belmont Resident 05-20-2011 05:26 PM

Yes but by the time you've pulled the boat then towed it to the gas station you have not saved a dime unless it's next dor to the marina.
Not to mention the time it takes to accomplish this.

Caution*Fuel at Channel Marine*

Just an FYI...I had 4 different boating friends that filled up at Channel the past 2 weeks and their fuel tanks have ALOT of water in them! After fueling up, the boats would stall by the end of the channel, all boats had to get towed back in and have the gas tanks pumped back out. I noticed Gaf-Tek has been working on there tanks to seal the water leaks...I would get fuel else where for now!!

Some of the difference in price is becasue some Marina's have the additive in the fuel for the ethanol. I know that Sheps has the additive already in the fuel.

Eric G 05-21-2011 07:28 PM

NoRegrets is right about the low fuel prices at West Alton. I filled up today and spoke with Brian over there. He said he waited - hoping for the price to fall. It worked out - the price fell and he filled the 12k gallon tank.

So the price of $3.979 at WAM should be good for a while.

AllAbourdon 05-23-2011 08:23 AM

Channel

I purchased 53 gallons of fuel yesterday from Channel at $4.25 a gallon at about 9:00AM.

Wish I had read this thread a little sooner regarding water. I had no issues with stalling but only ran the boat a short distance post fill up.

Unfortunately they may start at this price, but the adjustments come as they look at what they need to pay for their next fill of 12K gallons. You never pay for the price of the gas that is currently at the station, you pay for the gas that is coming to the station.

NoRegrets 05-24-2011 08:46 AM

Fuel (processed and refined oil) has stayed in the 2.95 whoesale price range for the past 2 weeks. The cost at the pumps go up (as you stated) based on replacement costs but the same logic does not seem to apply on the way down.

CNBC publishes the wholesale gas price on their website as well as publish it on the ticker on TV.

Gas at Channel

Dear Forum Members,

I've been a forum member since 2009 but this is my first post, as I'm more intimately involved in an event noted here. I presently work at the Channel Marine Ships Store and manage the gas dock operations. We did have an issue with gas the weekend of May 13th. We stopped pumping gas on Sunday as soon as the problem became apparent. We have heard from a few customers who have had problems with their boats and have handled them in a way that makes me proud to be working here. So far it appears to be somewhat random as to what boats have had problems and which ones have not. As some have observed we had technicians here a good part of last week and were not pumping fuel. All 8,000+ gallons of affected fuel have been removed from our tank and fresh fuel was brought in before we re-opened for business. So, AllAbourdon, you have nothing to worry about. We are monitoring the fuel in the tank extremely closely and there is absolutely no sign of the problems of earlier this month.

If you are one of the customers who purchased gas at Channel Marine over the weekend of the 13th and have a problem with your boat, please contact us immediately at 603-366-4801. We do appreciate the support and service of GAFTEK who made the necessary repairs and have been very responsive throughout the past week as well as Dennis Burke Oil, our supplier who has worked closely with us in arranging for the removal of the affected fuel and resupplying us with the VALVTECT fuel that so many of our customer have come to depend on. I hope all forum member boaters will stop by during the season to see the great "stuff" in our Ships Store as well as fill up with great quality fuel.

Happy and Safe Boating!

Dave Bowman
Store Manager

Contacts for anyone with fuel related problems from purchases at Channel Marine the weekend of may 13th, 2011:

Smart idea sounding off here to your customer base. Great to see Channel reaching out to resolve problems some may have had. Thumbs up!

I get 18 cents a gallon back from NH. Lakeport Landing has me on a plan that saves all my receipts and calculate the amount I get back from the state. I save enough gas for a free full tank of gas!

I don't think you can be able to do this if you fill at a roadside service station.

John A. Birdsall 05-28-2011 11:54 AM

gas rebates

while the gas places from road side will not save and calculate your rebates, You can still get the 18 cents per gallon rebate. Remember you must put on the gas slips your boat registration number, that its for a boat, and they need to have the name/address of the station. and it has to be legiable.

Greene's Basin Girl 05-29-2011 12:05 AM

Went to the Rob's Roast Beef/ Fuller's in Moultonborough today to fill my boat with gas before putting in the water. When I was done pumping the receipt didn't come out. On the tank it said " See Attendant". What Attendant??? There isn't one. I won't be able to submit that gas fill-up to the state.

upthesaukee 05-29-2011 05:37 AM

No cash sales there?

You are not able to pay cash for gas at that location? If you are, then you should have been able to go inside and get a receipt where you pay for gas.

Forgive my ignorance as I am not familiar with Fullers.

mixed post

Is it just me or does this post jump around the calendar a bit. Posts from last year are mixed in the middle with more recent posts. Makes the prices seem a bit crazy and also looks like Channel has had fuel problems. We haven't. We still stick and test our tank daily to make sure there is no problem with water or ethanol separation in the fuel and we still treat the fuel with ValvTect.

Just wanted to avoid any confusion....Have a great, safe, Memorial Day weekend! And Thanks again to all those who serve, have served, and are considering serving this country that allows the price of a gallon of fuel for a recreational activity to be of concern! :)

You may have your Thread Display Option set to something other than Linear. When I look at the posts in the thread, they are all in chronological order.

How about a 2012 Gas Price Thread?

This would be a great time to start a new thread on gas prices. The 2011 thread is getting too long and obsolete!

Already is one !
