Saturday Evening Rainbow
On Saturday Pepper posted this picture on Photopost of a rainbow near Laconia Airport with this description: "This rainbow was so intense it was as if a light was coming out of the ground and shining up!"
http://www.winnipesaukee.com/photopo...ws_005-med.jpg At about the same time she took the picture I noticed a similar beam of light in the direction of the airport on the Anchor Marine CAM: http://www.winnipesaukee.com/images/acamerarb.jpg Again at the same time the WeirsCAM seemed to be showing the other end of the rainbow: http://www.winnipesaukee.com/images/camerarb.jpg |
Amazing place
The lake is truly an amazing place. Thank you Don and Pepper for posting the pictures. Spectacular ! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_28_100.gif

If only I had a wide angle ...
If only I had a camera capable of wide-angle shots - I could have shown the entire rainbow, which was visible and blindingly bright. We first saw the rainbow while driving on 11-B just south of the G.I. Bridge, and both ends were clearly visible. When we reached the intersection of 11-C we were directly under the bow. By the time I got out on the tarmac with the camera, it was beginning to fade quickly. The section shown in the photo was the brightest portion, and lasted the longest. I'm certain it's the section seen on the Anchor Cam. And since we're talking about cameras - imagine what the image captured by the Weirs Cam will look like with Don's DreamCam! :look: Let's go, folks! If we all pull together we can help Don achieve his dream. Heaven knows he's done so much for all of us - he deserves it! :D

Rainbows and lightning Photos
Wow, very impressive post.
Thanks for picture Pepper! Wish I had been there to see it for myself. Just what is in the distance that is the magnet? Thanks Don. |

Forgive me for not having a picture of the lake side of the rainbow, but this was the view from my deck last night..
[IMG] Maybe one of you real photographers could help me with some advice on getting the camera settings right! The colors were all there really!! |
Nice shot even if it isn't perfect. Is that overlooking Tilton?
|
Yes - it is, from Northfield...and normally, we see the mountains beyond...! Like I said, it's not the lake but we LOVE the view!!
|
Spectacular View!
What's not to love about that view? Absolutely spectacular - I'll bet it takes your breath away in the autumn! Your photo is beautiful! It actually shows the incredible radiance that was visible! Thanks for sharing it.

I agree with Pepper on this.

awesome shots everyone. Thanks for posting. Interesting photos posted by Don. The Lightning strike and the rainbow off the cam.

Pepper, the view is beautiful year round, we have the most radiant sunrises, unbelieveable fall foliage, and yes, even in winter it's beautiful in the snow.
Best of all, on Old Home Day, the fireworks go off right between our house and the Arch - this year we also saw 3 fireworks displays at the same time around the 4th of July. Thanks everyone for the complements - I'm no photographer!! Island Girl offered to try and help me fix the photo up, maybe she can improve on my original! |
Found this wonderful rainbow photo at A.M.C. Three Mile Island Camp
