Flying Monkey, Plymouth
 

Has anyone on here been to a show there and what has been your experience?
We are at one of the Common Man restaurants at least twice a month and the pamphlets with their show line up always intrigues me.
We booked a show in December but not with a meal.
Also, other than the Italian Farmhouse, are there any other restaurants in Plymouth that anyone could recommend.

I have always been a fan of Georges. Never had the BBQ but they do a fantastic job with the fried seafood and have a respectable lobster roll.

Are they owned by the same owner of the Meredith Georges?

The band has played at both The Last Chair, and Big Daddy Joe's. I have eaten at both places and found the food to be very good. Give them a try !

You might try the Six Burner Bistro. It is a block away from the Flying Monkey. We have eaten there several times and it has always been very good. The Flying Monkey is a fun place to take in a show.

What about parking?

There is street parking and there is a parking lot just south of the Six Burner Restaurant that the public can park in. If you are going to eat before a show you are there before parking fills up. We have never had a problem parking. I drive a crew cab with a 6.5 bed so parking can be a issue at times due to length but I have never had a problem when going to the Monkey.

One thought--you might want reservations at the Six Burner Bistro. They can be pretty busy at times.

I agree reservations are definitely recommended and I usually park across the street in Rite Aid. Lot is large enough that no one will notice you are parked there for Six Burner. FYI: Food is excellent!!!

Flying Monkey
 

We go to the Monkey 6-8 times a year. Comfortable place to watch a show. Not wild about dinner there though. Although convenient, the seating is in the rear of the room, a bit crowded and not necessarily facing the stage. Can get pretty uncomfortable by the end of the show.

We almost always go to Six Burner Bistro before, a block away. Food is solid although sometimes their reach exceeds their grasp. For less fancy fare, we can recommend Panther Pub & Grille a little closer than Six Burner. Known for their nachos and burgers, mostly.

Plymouth
 

has more than there share of fine dining. Before the show we normally eat at the Foster's Boiler Room at the Common Man Inn just North of Plymouth. Cozy place with fireplaces etc. You can also find a room to stay over if you don't feel like driving home after the show.

Want just a quick bite to eat? Biedderman's in downtown Plymouth is the place to go for sandwich and local brew. It's kind of a college atmosphere, quiet, not rowdy. Of course Burrito Me is another favorite.

Italian Farmhouse, Six Burner Bistro, Last Chair are also very good.

Lucky Dog Phat Fish and Main Street Station tends to be very busy and noisy!

I go to the Flying Monkey at least every other month. Enjoy the shows!

Is of no relation to George's in Meredith. No connection at all.

We've been to a number of shows there - it's a great venue, and there's not a bad seat in the place. Over the past couple of years we've seen Leon Russell, David Crosby, Graham Nash, some tribute bands, and other shows.

Monkey = Fantastic!
 

Can’t say enough good about the Monkey! It’s the best venue in NH to see quality entertainment! Food and service is good! Food is prepared by the Common Man and I have never had a bad meal there. The menu is somewhat limited but you have to expect that considering.

As far as seats go, there isn’t a bad one in the house! We always buy dinner table seating and it is very comfortable with four people to a table. We usually buy at least one full table of seats.

The acoustics are also stellar! The soundman has an easy job coordinating instruments and vocals to bring the audience an audio sound that is second to none!

Enjoy any and all shows at the Monkey!

Another vote for the FM
 

Went to the Flying Monkey for a film about some early rockers with relatives in September. The theater seats are very comfortable an ably accommodated my 6' 6'' 270 lbs. Very nice homey atmosphere and being able to enjoy a cocktail in a theater was a nice, and new experience for me.

We are going to Marshall Tucker on December 6th, can't wait!

Change of dates for upcoming shows - no refund
 

The Monkey has postponed the April 10 show of Asleep at the Wheel, as expected. But their new date of July 18 conflicts with another even I have scheduled.

When I asked the Monkey for a refund they said:
'We're sad to hear you cannot make it to the reschedule date. Unfortunately as per our ticketing policy (which is industry standard) tickets are non-refundable. We can however make a couple suggestions for what you might be able to do."

Unlike airlines and most other business that understand the situation and realize the change of dates and plans are NOT the responsibility of the customer. The responsible thing for the Monkey to do in the current situation when a date change makes existing tickets unusable is to refund and let the Monkey resell the seats for the new date, not make it the customers burden.

The new norm, and new 'standard', is to refund when the dates have to change. See this from the BAA for the Boston Marathon:

'The BAA will refund any runner and wheelchair athlete registered for the Boston Marathon who can't make the new race date.'

If the artist can get here for the show, then the show will go on regardless of weather. We are hardy New Englanders! If the artist is unable to perform, we will notify ticket holders of the cancellation by email as soon as possible, please make sure that the email address that you give us is valid and actively used. Tickets will be held for a rescheduled date. If the artist does not book a rescheduled date within a year of the cancellation, we will refund your ticket.

Agreed. I don't like to criticize a music venue because it's a brutal business and I love live shows, but their answer is BS. I've had at least 4 shows rescheduled on me over the years, including 2 during the current crisis, and every time I've had the option of a refund.
