B-29 Doc

Don't know if this is appropriate to the Winni Forum, but here it is. Maybe the webmaster would be interested. :look:

For decades, there has been only One B-29 aircraft flying in the world. "FIFI" has been owned and flown by the Commemorative Airforce out of Texas, showing up at various airshows and flying events around the country.

Two weeks ago, another B-29 was rescued... and flew again after 70 years. B-29 "Doc", Also owned by the Commemorative Airforce in Texas. :)

PS: This group has many old WWII aircraft in flying condition. :) :) NB

What a great plane. Thanks for the video.

Thanks guys for your interest and support. . My uncle was an 8th Air Force pilot in the European theater flying B-17s. He survived the ordeal. About 50% of those who went out..didn't come back. NB

It was a wonderful moment. My sister-in-law was the FAA inspector that signed the certificate of airworthiness for the plane. She and my brother-in- law were watching from the hangar . Very cool .

Certificate..

NoBozo 08-24-2016 06:10 PM

"Experimental"

Thanks Ilovethelake for posting that Cert. As far as I know..ALL Home Built /Kit Built aircraft are required to have a "Placard" at the entry to the aircraft as well as in front of the passenger seat..."EXPERIMENTAL."

Restored Warbirds seem to be included. The original Mfgr (In this case Boeing) takes no responsibility for the restoration.

It's kind of like a subtle warning from the FAA...:

"Danger..Danger..Will Robinson" ......Maybe you should reconsider flying in this plane..:D :D NB

I'll venture a guess that given the pride of those involved the quality of this restoration exceeds even the high standards of the original builders. I have tremendous respect for those that designed, built flew and crewed these planes.

I've been following this restoration off and on for the past few years, so cool to see it flying again. Old planes, boats, ships, cars and so on are so much more interesting because they were all so different. Things now are so much more homogenized (Boring! :D). I wish the spirit of innovation that produced these type of designs would have a resurgence, I think we'd all enjoy the ride.

B29 Doc Update

She flys some more. :) NB

NoBozo 02-06-2017 11:35 AM

Edit

She fly's some more:

Interesting 360 degree camera allows you to "Pan" around the cockpit and see what's going on while the co-pilot fly's the plane. Use the button on the Left of the screen. :) NB
