yes, my storage will go up $300.00 compared to last year. Total of $600.00 compared to since Goodhue transaction. $245.00 increase for winterization services compared to last year.

My storage is $1050 this year and it was $650 last year. And that’s for a 21 footer. That’s a bit much but I’m stuck with them. And they know it.

Melvin Village Marina is $49/ft. this year. Can't remember what it was last year, but I think less.

MVM was $46 last year.

Trailering a boat provides options. I already have one boat in the yard at home that I trailer and can’t do that with the other one. My wife is finally getting used to the shelter covering it. I do regular maintenance on that boat and use Granite State in Milford for other repairs.

Lanes End in Melvin Village is $42 per ft. and they include some services in that figure. We have been customers for more than 20 years. So far, so good. 🤞

Winni Marina (WOW) is $36/ft this winter. I’ll take it!

Well after spending over $3k to have Irwin store my 32’ boat inside for the winter and having an absolutely dreadful experience I’d be happy to have paid the prices above.

Changed the packages from last year.

Don't be fooled --- that's STRICTLY storage rate …… all the other is "add-on" Winterization, etc etc.

LOL Just have to chuckle at those prices.

My box of winterization stuff just arrived today in the mail full of all OEM filters, parts and fluids. Antifreeze I buy locally. $120.00 with free shipping. 3 Hours at best of my time to do what is MORE than the Sheps "Premium" service list. I do not consider my spring "lake test" into the mix which is admittedly at least an all day effort. I should mention that box also contained the $43 oil change kit for my 60HP Merc 4 stroke outboard and a 16OZ bottle of 303 protectant for the interior. At over 2K for that service those guys are out of their minds.

Storage, been thinking about storing my boat instead of in the garage at home but elsewhere, found covered non climate controlled storage for half the 1150 they wanted to shrink wrap mine for and leave it outside. It's amazing the price drop soon as you get away from the lake!

Good luck to those guys, I know a few customers of their that are outta there. To bad, but my guess is they are looking to reduce the number of customers and certainly want the ones that just pay and don't ask questions. We all know there are plenty of them out there.

Good god if I'm reading that right they want $800 to bottom wash the boat and drain the cooling system. You have to go to the "deluxe" package top get your oil and gear lube done. Thank god I do my own, for under $100 I'll add.

The one comment I'd like to make being a business owner is that most people don't understand overhead. Yes you can do things cheaper yourself, that's a choice. I look at the marina's and see many challenges in keeping things profitable being primarily seasonal, it's a business I'm glad I'm not in.

I imagine it's a tough gig keeping the rent paid in January when it's January.

Unless I'm mistaken, if you have a slip at Sheps (and most places?) you have to store a boat. If you don't, you lose your slip - and there is a waiting list of people ready to take it.

Garcia. You are correct and it has been so for many. many years.

Both Shep's and Y are at capacity for slips and valet with waiting lists. You don't want to do the work and trailer away from the lake like Maxim then you gotta pay.

I would love to trailer home at the end of the season and have plenty of space to store the boat. However, the slip is pretty essential during the season; trailering is not an option as multiple people coming from different places come and go all season. So, the winter storage and slip simply become part of the annual expenses, just like taxes and maintenance...

Why is it that marinas raised prices when there is a waiting list and lower prices when there are empty slots???? You figure the other way around!

I did not get my bill yet. $600 last year for inside storage, winter prep and bottom wash. I can't complain. Other service(s) on boat are extra and done during the off season. I get to use the boat early and late in the season.

I used to trailer and store my boat in Franklin. Storage is cheaper the further you travel from the lake.

Looks like it's not just Shep Brown's and other local marinas with higher prices for winter boat storage prices this year:

It's now more expensive by 25% or so, to cover your boat yourself for storage, even in your own driveway. Items at Walmart like a heavy 12'x24' gray tarp, 3/16" white cotton/nylon cord went from $4 to $5, and Gorilla tape for reinforcing the corner grommets have all gone up 25% recently due to the new tariiffs on China made items. Ditto this plus 25% increase for do-it-yourself style air compressors and two ton floor jacks for working with trailers and trailer tires.

Guess I'll just have to use that old gray tarp again for the third winter season because prices have done become too great, again. Is time to make the boat great to store for the winter, again, but with the old worn out tarp at the old price, again.

Thought maybe the tarps at Ocean State Job Lot in Meredith would still be priced at the pre-tariff prices but even the OSJL prices went up ...... omg!

Who knows, maybe the tarps at JR's down by exit-23 still have the old price ...... will report back here.

A pure case of supply and demand. Slips are at a premium, storage is also full. Marinas are charging inflated prices, and pocketing all the extra profits. Pure greed, as cost haven’t increased that much

Yes I agree. I had a long exhaustive discussion with my marina about 2020 pricing. Costs in the past 3 years have certainly not escalated anywhere near the rate of the price per foot increases in my case over 25%

Capitalism is great...when it has a conscience. I always considered Winni to be a blue-collar lake--my parents enjoyed taking us to the Weirs for decades on maintenance and grocery store salaries--but living and boating here are becoming less accessible every year because the costs never drop nearly as much as they rise in these cycles. In the last 6 years we've been at Arcadia, we've watched our chances of retiring here *probably* disappear--we always thought we'd sell our southern NH home and camp and buy on the lake, but those ratios are shot.

That being said, I'm not entirely sure because I don't pay all that much attention, but it appears Melvin Village Marina has barely increased their rates. Can anyone confirm?

Off lake storage doesn’t appear to have increased very much. Independent Marine is 32/ft now and, if I remember correctly, was 28/ft 20 yrs ago before he built the 3 buildings for inside storage. Everything on water is going up but it is just the normal inflation & supply and demand cycle. (plus tariff charges this year). Funny how supply & demand increase are just good american capitalism until it hit YOU in the pocket - then its greed.

Silver Sands’ slips In Gilford has gone from $130 per foot this past summer to $140 per foot next year. And jet skis have gone from $500 to $600.
