Deck Boats
I am looking at upgrading my smaller boat for something over 24'. I have seen some 25' deck boats out there. They seem to have a lot of room but I am not sure how they will handle, especially when it is very busy out there. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

My preference
- Vee - Deck - Anything else - Pontoon I read that some decks are almost as good as Vee's in the rough stuff. The cut of the bow seems to slap rather than plunge through the waves. The bow and cabin space of the decks seem attractive but I would stay Vee myself. My next boat will have deep vee, good deadrise, good freeboard to be as comfortable and safe as I would like for rougher days. helpful article: http://boatingblog.discoverboating.c...-bowrider.aspx Toons are not my thing, even though the ride and performance keeps improving every year. |
I currently have a deep vee and go offshore in FL. I also have a whaler supersport in NH. They both handle waves/chop very good but neither give me the smooth ride of my tritoon(San Pan). My San Pan handles anything on Winnipesaukee without getting "bounced around". My wife hates rough water and gets sea sick easily. We routinely go from Meredith Marina to Wolfeboro (through the Broads) with no problems. I highly recommend a tritoon for the Lakes Region.

Love my deck boat (Sea Ray 240 Sundeck.... 26'10"). I can see where a real deep v closed bow boat might be a tad better in the really rough stuff, but I'll take the trade off of all the extra space for a tad less comfort on a very rough day.

I have a 2009 Crownline 252 EX deck boat. It handles most of what the lake can throw out. Bow rides a bit low so on really rough days passengers move to the back. The space is awesome. It does have the tendency to slap down into big waves rather than cut in, but it's not too big of a deal. It's a great boat.

Chap 244 Sunesta. Great boat, tons of room and a great ride.

Try a tri toon. I did and won't go back to a fiberglass V.

My ranking would be: Tritoon Deep V Woodie displacement - Garwood, Hackercraft Deck boat Pontoon Gull wing trihull |
Coming out of a Searay 240 Sundeck after 12 years and want to look at tritoons. What would you recomend if tubing, waterskiing... are important factors.
How does price compare between a 24 ft sundeck and a luxury/performance 24 ft tritoon? |

Check this out.........had a 26 Hurricane with twin 150's but it slapped a lot in the chop. The Bennington rides much better and performs like a deep V. |
