Web Cams

Can a Web Cam owner operator please shed some light on the cost of equipment, maintenance and expense to operate such a piece of equipment?
I would like to see more Web Cams but I think this info may explain why we don't. Thank you to all who have working Web Cams for us to view. First thing I do every morning (2nd) to check out the Beautiful Lake. Thank you.

Several sites around the lake use Stardot cameras. The ones I manage at Flightcraft and Anchor Marine are Stardot NetcamLive cameras that sell for $425 on Amazon and provide still images and live Youtube streaming. These cameras are self contained and do not need a computer to work, just an internet connection.

An inexpensive case is also needed and the ability to mount it, run the cable and configure it. It does takes some computer skills to get it running initially

After the camera is setup you need somewhere to display it. A simple web page would do it or just use the free Youtube page.

So really the only cost is the camera, case and internet service. Beyond that it just takes the time and commitment to keep it running year after year.

Does anyone have experience with these?

Pan-Tilt-Zoom

If you are interested in the high-end of the web cam market with Pan Tilt and Zoom, check out the AXIS P5655-E PTZ Network Camera, costing about $2000. It has 32X optical zoom, a 1080p stream and good at low-light. It is amazing!
