laws regulating tying a boat to a raft
 

Is there any law limiting me from securing my sunfish to my swim raft?

When you registered?? it, was there any information that said you couldn't?

I think if you tie a boat to it someone is going to call it a mooring, then it would have to be registered.

I would just do it...how big is a sunfish? Can’t be any bigger or more obnoxious looking than those inflatable “fun/bounce/slide” thingys...

If it's your swim raft then I would just do it as well. It's sad that you even have to ask out of fear of some **** complaining about it. Wow... pathetic.

I was going to, but I changed my mind. I'm a boating junkie and can't stay away, and learn something once in awhile. I will go down fighting, I'm not a quitter. Tony, welcome to the forum. If your float is big enough, I'd consider pulling the sunfish up onto it. That way the boat won't be banging against the float.

There's a lot more to this question. Is the raft being used instead of a mooring? Is it overnight or long term? Will the swing of the sunfish intrude on the extensions of abutters' lot lines? Etc. The P's question is vague in consideration of anchoring and mooring regulations. Better to call MP (293-2037) and have a conversation than have the forum ask open ended questions that the OP and the Forum can't answer.

I vote no on mooring the Sunfish to the raft for a significant length of time. Getting a registered mooring is easy. The procedure for an unregistered mooring begins with the MP towing your boat away. It's just not worth the risk. Plus, they're going to be banging into each other.
