Any one up for a treasure hunt?

I lost my wedding ring this last weekend, I dove in after it and chased it to about 15 feet of water before I needed to come up. I know exactly where it is, I also hit the MOB on the GPS right away.

I am a diver myself and will be looking but if anyone is up for a little treasure hunt, I can make it worth your while, maybe a free lunch or something?
It is not a very expensive ring at all, but it is my wedding ring so I plan to find it.

It is a silverish looking ring. In ~35'-40' of water. East of Eagle Island. 43.624933,-71.422954

I lost my first one after just 6 months of marriage. We were water skiing on Merrymetting in early May. As I reached for the dock to get out, I saw it was missing. For the Seinfeld fans..."it was shrinkage!" :D

27 years later, we still joke that we know exactly where it is. It's just that it's about 80' down and covered in 27 years of silt.

(I did get a replacement)

Wish I had an underwater metal detector. Chances are it sank into the muck on the bottom. If not found by next weekend, my daughter and I might give it a go. Just got our gear serviced and everything!

My wife is on number 3!
 

Diamonds from her engagement ring! One was lost when she pulled a glove off while snowmobiling, another just fell off, setting and all! Number 3 included a new set of bands! Problem solved! Funny how the diamond got bigger with each new one. Mmmmm.

A some what unusual member on which to wear a wedding ring? :rolleye2:

I'll take a run at it with a Fishers metal detector after others try as I have alot I'm doing elsewhere. Post your results on the forum.

About 7 years ago I was called to find a Rolex watch worth I'm told about $7,000, in Wolfboro. I found it-barely-without a metal detector. It was hardly visible at all-just a spec of reflection caught my eye so I checked it out-got it out of the weeds. This watch was huge and it sank in the silt/mud almost completely but this little flicker caught my attention.

Advice on searching: Invert your body head down about 45 degrees -maintain perfect neutral buoyancy off the bottom as you lightly kick along otherwise it will silt out on you, depending on the bottom. And don't assume it will be in mud or silt-it could have landed on a rock or gravel bed etc.. But if you trash the water column with a silt-out you're done for the day regardless. Don't even land on the bottom-do a controlled descent. Dig gently to probe for anything that looks promising and wear thin gardening gloves-rubber palms with a cloth back to give your much better dexterity.

A few years ago I found this 6"? 8"? Dirty Harry special in the CT River; As big as it is, all I saw was a 1/2" wide, 2" strip of reflective metal on the river bottom-nothing more. I was facing up stream (always when digging) so as I dug the silt etc. passed over me keeping vision clear. Had I not gone slowly and looked carefully I would have missed it. I tagged it with surveyors tape and swam it to shallow water for easy retrieval at the end of the dive.

Think it out when diving-don't rush the search.

Please confirm you provided the correct coordinates. My gps and the google maps link says what you provided is on Clark Rd near Sally's Gut.

Thank you so much for trying, I know it is probably a lost cause but it does make for a nice adventure. I am not sure why when I grab the coordinates it jumped, I must have copy and pasted the wrong numbers.
They should be 43d 37'60.63N and 71d25'23.24W, I am not sure how accurate the GPS is, but I was about 250' from shore. If you found it my wife would be eternally grateful, and I would owe you big time.

well this post was for my first ring, it has only been about ~6 months and I am now wearing my 3rd ring :D

I've been married for 45 years. I took my wedding ring OFF after the first year. Haven't worn it since. It's in my wifes jewelry box. I had a co-worker (NAVY) who had a break in the skin ..in one of those skin creases on the palm side of the finger..it was open and infected.

I was tasked with cutting the ring Off. A Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel ...IF I had had one available, would have made the "Site" too hot. I used a jewelers hacksaw and file. It was tedious and uncomfortable for the "patient". The ring was destroyed.

Just my experience. WE..don't wear rings. :look: NB

PS: I forgot to mention..the finger was swollen and the ring could not be removed in the conventional manner.

No wife in that dog house!!!

I know this is an old thread BUT I'm still interested. There's nothing like "the hunt".

If you're doing degrees, minutes and seconds, I think the 60.63" in the North latitude is invalid because the value can't be greater than 60.00.

Want to take another shot at providing some good coordinates?
