Moultonborough tennis!

Took a look-see today at the four Moultonborough tennis courts, and sure enough, all four courts are ready to play, with the nets in place, and the courts all free of snow, and very clean. So, big hurrah for the Town of Moultonborough for getting it done. No doubt, the pickleball box and all the benches will soon show up.

Much to my surprise, there was someone there hitting up against the tennis hitting backboard ..... which is actually a very good way to practice for tennis or pickleball.

My favorite hitting backboard is built using 4x8' sheets of plywood, painted green with a white line to replicate the tennis net, and about 12'-high x 24'-wide.

If your town courts have no hitting backboard, and you wonder why the courts do not seem to get much use ...... then, your town definitely needs to build a hitting backboard. And, if they really want to get fancy, it could be built with a 10-degree backwards lean, so's the tennis balls will bounce back with a more upward arc.

When you can't find a partner, the hitting wall will do the trick ...... plus, it is always there ..... and sometimes leads to a practice game with a new person!

March 14, 2020: Moultonborough tennis & pickelball

Saturday, March 14, 2020; took a look at the Moultonborough courts today, and all four courts are ready for tennis and while the pickleball equipment box has yet to show up, its' arrival cannot be far away.

The four courts are totally free of snow, all four tennis nets are totally installed, and the courts are totally clean from winter debris plus the snow has melted away from the parking lot and walking path.

So, if you are totally bored out of your mind, suffering from the long winter, and got nothing better to do …… maybe it's time for tennis or pickleball!

Who knows, but maybe the Town of Moultonborough will chose to construct another tennis/pickleball hitting backboard? Maybe over at the back end of court #2 or #3 so's it doesn't interfere with the pickleball game ….. just a thought. …..

I've been to the hitting board in Meredith- poorly designed! Even though it is solid, when a ball goes by you, it crosses the full length of the baselines of the courts that others might be playing on. Even if no one is playing, how many times do you really want to go retrieve balls from that far away?

I learned to play on boards (much taller) that were half a court in length from the chain-link fence entrance. Much more convenient.

Yes, the courts seem to be well taken care of.

Easy for social distance!?!

Anyway- take up golf- you'll spend less time here!!!

...... what, no free coffee .... how totally outrageous!

The M-boro royal pavilion:

Yes well, coffee and tennis certainly go together like I don't know what ..... but coffee and tennis sure go together.

So, what else is new down at the Moultonborough 4-tennis courts, named the Kraine Meadow Park named after the Kraine's who donated the land, or something?

No more rental porta-potty ..... say goodbye to that large johnny-on-the-spot, comfort castle ...... am not so sorry to see it get replaced?

Looks like that luxuriously large and tidy porta-potty has done been replaced by a large recreation pavilion that includes a large open space with a pitched roof overhead, maybe for rainy day activities, plus some accessory rooms including public bathrooms ...... so, that's a big deal and a welcome addition.

Way-to-go ....... Town of Moultonborough! ...... M-O-U-L-T-O-N-B-O-R-O-U-G-H ..... gimme an M ..... gimme an O .... gimme a U .... gimme an L .... etc, etc .... what do you get ..... you get a new, large, luxurious town recreation pavilion ..... aka the M-boro royal pavilion.

And, in case anyone is wondering ...... the #1 best hitting tennis/pickleboard backboard is a 24' wide x 12' high, 3/4" plywood construction, painted dark green with a white line to replicate the net.

...... a royal pavilion!

While winter was happening, Moultonborough has replaced the porta-potty with a royal pavilion ..... is so much more usable outdoor space, under a roof, out of the rain, out of the sun, just out of it...... have you seen it!

It is a seriously, super-good, big space addition to Kraine Meadow Park. It seems to be a long-time, multi-year, quality construction, town structure ..... a royal pavilion!
