wakeboard, ski... what is it?

I am sitting on my dock watching some kids being towed on something. It looks kind of like a wakeboard with a seat and when they get going fast it pops out of the water a few feet on a metal fin. Looks like fun. Anyone know what its called and hows the learning curve?

Sounds like an AirChair. Sports Parafunalia rents/sells them.

Learning Curve

The learning curve can be rather steep. Some get it right away and some never do! Very slight weight shift will bring you up on the foil or slam you back down on the water.

Been around for many a moon. Tried one 40 years ago and didn't do so well.

It is a lot of fun. We rented one from parafunalia a couple of years ago, liked it so much, I found one on Ebay. I didn't think the learning curve was too steep to just get up and ride, but it did take a little while to learn to manage it to avoid over-correcting and the inevitable ... slam
