Good looking boat but I dont see the point, it really looks kinda useless to me. There is almost no open space or uncovered space as a percentage of the boat as a whole.

I guess if you want to be fully enclosed in your boat (like being on the inside of a cruise ship) then it gets the job done, but if you want to enjoy fresh air - sun - the breeze - maybe even a little water spray, and all they other the elements that go along with the experience of being on a boat you would need something else,,,

I'm probably missing something, but I think I'll keep mine ;-)

I'm with you... Outside living space is abundant on our boat and the interior spaces are bright and well-ventilated. The flybridge version of that boat has better outdoor space.

The point of the boat was to make a statement of wealth.
More than likely it failed to do the job, so it is being moved.

Agreed. Fly bridge is wonderful, but I like a couple of boats I had years ago with dual helms. Great for early/late season, rainy days etc. I note that many island residents have more than one boat for just this reason.

That "is" a flybridge version. You just can't see it from the angle in the above photos.

Oh, I think everyone on the lake got the point.

It really doesn't enamor you with the people you really are focused on.
I think he will jump to the more historic wooden version, that seems to be the ticket into the group.

Be interesting to see if the ''RESTOFUS'' comes to the lake.

"Restofus" isn't a useful boat on Winnipesaukee. Going in that direction, a 1930's commuter is more appropriate. Anybody remember the Chris Craft "Excalibur"? Don't know what happened to her, but there are other commuters around. Antique runabouts are nice, but anybody with a checkbook can go to Clayton and buy one. Not very showy outside the antique runabout club. Since the house is for sale, I don't think he's interested in making a big splash on Winnipesaukee any more.

Is RESTOFUS the Century previously owned by the Kennedys or another boat of the same name?

Correct. Its history is more of the issue.
You can buy a lot of boats, but buying history tends to put you in an elite crowd.

It is still about ego, but no one can just go buy the same thing regardless of the amount of money they may have. At that point, they can only buy from you.

You buy something that is the biggest, fastest, etc... and in a short period of time.... someone else has something that is bigger, faster, etc.

I am hearing a new, even larger boat is enroute to replace it. A Cruisers Inc.

Thursday arrival
 

Saw this wide load stopped along Route 11 near Minge Cove Rd around. 2 pm. The police escort was getting ready to stop traffic near West Alton Marina.

The crane is unloading it today but a lot of reassembly has to be done before it goes in the water.

More dollars than sense. Never saw the last one off the dock

It went into the water this morning.

A boat like that deserves a twelve month season.

Will it need to come out again at some point?

Regardless, I agree with the others that it's a ridiculous vessel for this lake. I can't tell if it's ostentatious, pretentious, or just silly.

That being said, I try my absolute best to live and let live, so I hope the owners and their family have great times with it.

Don't post much here but this posting made me think about a conversation.


I had a client a few years ago that was extremely wealthy and self made.

He said to me a week before his passing " I made my first million and then I needed ten million, then I needed 100, it turned into an obsession. Now that I know my time is over none of these things brought me true happiness... all of these things were a distraction from what was truly important.

I hope that this person enjoys the new possession and I also hope they donated the same amount they paid for this new toy to a worthy cause for people that are not as fortunate.

With that said we all live on this same earth, lets remember we all have the same goal to find happiness and health for ourselves and our loved ones.

They may have earned the money or they may have been the lucky recipient of Dad's success...

I can't wait to cut in front of them at the town docks on a Summer Saturday. LOL

When we bought our boat a few years ago, the marina had a used 38' Formula FASTECH for sale at the time. The owner of the marina told me that the FASTECH had been used literally one time. The story goes that the boat's owner was an older gent who specifically ordered it custom so it could do 100 MPH. Months after ordering it, the boat arrived and it was hauled down to the Piscataqua River. The older man and an experienced Captain barreled down the river into the Atlantic and cranked it up to 100 MPH. After the ride, the boat was transported back to the marina on the lake.

Once back at the lake, the older man told the owner of the marina to sell it.

"Why?", asked the marina owner.

"My dream has always been to go 100MPH in a boat before I die. I've done that now, so sell it", said the boat's owner.

The marina owner replied, "Geez, if that's all you wanted, why didn't you let me know? I could have rented you a boat or arranged a ride somehow. Why did you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for a boat to use literally for about an hour???"

The old man said emphatically, "Because I can..."

Bingo! Good for him. Reminds me of a commercial I saw on TV yesterday. Our Bozo In Chief pitching some ridiculous plan (didn't pay attention), but at the end, the slogan was "Rewarding Work, Not Wealth". Huh? Unless you're a trust fund baby, have won the lottery or received an insurance settlement, it seems to me that in order to get wealth, one has to work.

A boat like that should have a 13ish foot RIB tender so they can simply anchor offshore a bit and take the entire-boat-is-a-fender, easy-to-find-dock-space-for, dinghy to the docks and easily squeeze into any available spot without any possibility of harming anyone else's boat. I'm amazed this is not a thing on the lake yet. We do it all the time from our boat in coastal ports. Hmmm, $500+ a night for a transient slip, or anchor and use the free dinghy dock, not a tough choice... Our RIB dinghy paid for itself in just one season of cruising and we have a blast ripping around in it near our home port.

Only the line of rope that goes through the interior hole inside the noodle needs to be tied tight around the waist, while 30"x 2.5" of foam noodle is secured tight with the line.

30" has enough flotation for almost everyone unless you weigh 250-lbs with a bmi of 20.

These noodle belts are basically a three dollar swim buoyancy belt, good for learning to swim, or flotation security for swimming deep, rough, or cold water. It makes swimming the breast stroke or side stroke much more doable because the flotation is centered, and you don't use any swim movement energy to stay on top of the water, horizontally, so you can take your time and slowly swim a long distance without worry about drowning.

With a $19.95 Stohlquist wet suit tee-shirt and a foam noodle flotation belt, swimming out there in the 65-degree cold water on a sunny day is okay to do if you really want to go there. You can stretch the summer swimming till the end of September, and then think about getting a farmer john wetsuit for 55-65 degree water ....... you sometimes surprise yourself with what you can do even in the cold water.

Oopsie ....... so just picture yourself swimming off the back porch on your new Summa Humma 60' motor yacht, using a foam noodle, three dollar swim safe belt in that late September 65-degree water ...... no kidd'n! ...... just add a $3-noodle belt for swimming off your yacht!

Nope, the one he bought was the 60 Cantius, not the 60 Fly.

Hahaha... If I had a choice, obviously I didn't, I would recommend the fly. But no one asked me. :D Both versions are awesome. Cruisers keep getting better and better in the build and options. The master stateroom is one of the best. MarineMax will promote, sell and charter many Cruisers 60's Fly or no Fly.

Since it's launch on Sept 11th it has gone nowhere !!

The boat has sat in the exact same spot since launch ........ did something go wrong during shipping and waiting on parts ??

Such a shame after the rush & EXPENSE (crane for 2 days) to get her in the water.

Two different boats. The 56 Galeon left and the 60 foot Cruisers arrived.

The new one did go out, but not often. There are no issues with it that would prevent it from being used. A couple of things at the house had to be taken care of. It should be at the house next year.

Trading up from 56' to 60' is only two tractors and three lawnmowers.

Brand new boats of that type (modern-styled cruisers) and size are notorious for having all kinds of problems that need to be addressed. They have an incredibly complex collection of stand-alone systems and typically every boat in the production run is custom. When combined with the need to continuously make styling changes to keep the designs fresh, it's a recipe for disaster.

More "traditional" cruising boats (like Sabre, Grand Banks, Flemming, Marlowe, etc.) are usually more sorted out from the factory because design changes are infrequent and minor, so the factory has had ample opportunity to find and address design flaws. They certainly are not perfect though, new boats rarely are...
