Forest Society project in Alton

The Forest Society has a current project aimed to protect two large parcels abutting the Morse Preserve in Alton. One 220-acre parcel to the south and east of the Morse Preserve would connect to the Alton Bay State Forest. Also, a 250 acre parcel to the north and west of the Morse Preserve would extend up to Jesus Valley Road.

Forest Society project in Alton

The Morse Preserve is a wonderful spot!

I hiked it yesterday for the Peaks and Perks Challenge. What a view--even with the mountains shrouded in mist--and a suprisingly easy climb too. In the summer when the blueberries are ripe it would be a great starter hike for kids.

Now off I go to the Forest Society page to help them out...

The Morse Preserve hike is one of the highest payoff to effort ratios in NH. Yes a great kids hike.

The online article was written last fall. We just received a mailing indicating that they are still looking to finish raising $164,000 by May 30th.
