Compass Restaurant in the Weirs?

Went in for Breakfast Sunday morning.... Awesome Coffee! Ordered... no Sausage no Poached Eggs the Waitress said.... then waitress said the cook walked out on them the night before. Ordered Hash for meat. Arrived in a side plate that looked (and was mostly homefries). Scrambles.... $13.99!!! They put a ton of $$$ money into the place! Felt very bad for them, and the girls working were very nice but overwhelmed. No A/C they were sweating.... Just want the same as everyone else. A nice little reasonable breakfast spot....

The old Weirs the Beef / Hideout....

The owner is Carol who had worked at Gringo's for many years. She left Gringo's to start this business and has put a lot of money into it over the last few months. The renovations look great.

She is going to have Keno and is just waiting a couple of weeks for the state to get the equipment to her.

A few growing pains for a new business are to be expected. It is a nice place to go by boat for breakfast or lunch. I hope she does well.

OK. At the Weirs. If I go by boat and walk up the Mounts ramp, whee do I go?

Location

Take a right and go about 200 yards up the street (Lakeside Avenue). When you get to the ramp for the Winnipesaukee Pier arcades you are half way there.

It is on the right and the front door faces down the street (not parallel). It is in the building where "Weirs the Beef" was formerly located. It is just up the street from Crazy Gringos on the opposite side of the street.

heres a link to Weirs the Beef site which shows the outside. Its a Google street view so you can drag the pic and look around 360 degrees. https://www.google.com/maps/uv?hl=en...eEB0YQpx8IeDAK

Compass

$13.99? They will not make it at those prices. There are several breakfast establishments around the lakes region where you can get a full breakfast and a good one for well under $10, $6 to $8 range.

Looks like you can here as well...

Compass

Yes, that menu looks reasonable, maybe Born on Winni $13.99 included drinks, tip etc. Nothing on the menu anywhere near $13.99.

Thank you and thanks to TiltonBB too. Since the PO closed/moved and the barber shop in the Grange Hall closed, I don't get up the hill very often. Lived one summer on Foster Ave, so to me, "Where's the Beef" is still the "Superette". Gotta get out more.

I went here earlier today. The remodel is fantastic. Very sleek and modern. An impressive first installment in transforming the Weirs from the “poor man’s Meredith.”

Stop in, you’ll immediately see what I mean.

Sounds to me as though the Compass is moving in the right direction.

A little strange. Breakfast choice mostly eggs. I don’t see any pancakes, French toast or waffles. I’ll have trouble bringing the kids there with the limited choices.

Good thing we can find the REAL prices on line, No one ever would have gone if they thought it was $13.99 for a single breakfast order.

I don’t eat eggs so sometimes my “sides” amount to a bit more than what someone that eats eggs would eat so MY breakfast could add up to that depending on how hungry I am and what breakfast meats I crave at the time!
It’s the price I pay for hating eggs and I am good with that.

Best Breakfast

Best Breakfast at Compass is a Glass of Beer with Tomato Juice & a Raw Egg ,i Breakfast in a glass can't beat them

Me too, but when you use the price against them we should get full disclosure.

Pretty Good Experience.

My wife and I went to the Compass in the Weirs on Thursday morning for breakfast. As someone else noted, the remodel looks great: clean, modern, nothing like what was there before. And the food was really good too. I had the "traditional," which consisted of eggs, oven roasted potatoes (thumbs up) and Kielbasa (one of the meat options that day; it was on the specials board). My wife went with a cheese, onion and bacon omelet, which she thought was Great! A few options on the menu (shown in an earlier post) don't include the potatoes, like her omelet, and none included toast - but you can add them for $1.95, or an English Muffin or Croissant, also for $1.95 (on top of $5.95 for both our "entrees"). Some might not like this system, but I know plenty of people who don't really want toast and/or potatoes, and rather than ask them to leave them off (usually for no price break), Compass allows you to add them in. Finally, the coffee was excellent. There were about 10 customers there, besides us, at all times, and they could have seated about 22 at tables (5 four-tops, 1 two-top (all were high-top tables, I think), and maybe 8 to 10 more at the counter. Final bill came to $23.35, which included 2 coffees and one "side" of roasted potatoes. Bottom line: We'll go back again.

My wife and I had breakfast at Compass last week and liked it so much that we sent our "kids" over later and I went back on Friday to meet a friend. The food was excellent (I had Eggs Benedict both times) and the newly renovated space looked great. There were even watercolors on the wall by our own CateP. Carol, the owner, provided great and friendly service.

If you're at the Weirs walk past the Weathervane and check out Compass. They plan to be open year-round. Try it, you'll like it.
